Frustrated and confused....

I suppose it's time for me to come clean.... The past couple of weeks, I have been making poor choices eating wise. I'm going out more with "normal" people, and I find myself just going with the flow not obessing or overly consumed with "eating" and etc... I'm 27 years old, and am dating now and going out for ****tails, karakoe clubs, etc... I am enjoying the ****tails and don't get "drunk"... But, how do I balance it... Today, I guess I am down and I am eating EVERYTHING in site... I am changing relationships with people in my life who have been unhealthy, but I am so scared of this change that I am reverting back to old eating habits-- my safety blanket.... Today, I have had a handful of cheese its, 3/4 cups captin crunch, a pop tart, peanut butter and SF jelly sandwhich, 6 crackers, a can of soap, 2 cookies, a bit of spaghetti, 2 slices of lunch meat, 6 oz of boneless pork chop, 1 serving of chili fritos... I am also applying for graduate school right now.. I just seems like EVERYTHING in my life is changing, so maybe I am just scared... I don't know.

I am feeling bad about my eating choices and it could be the weather, too... Its been raining NON stop for the past two days.

And, I DON"T drink soda's... I have had a sprite (diet) and a (diet) orange crush!!!!

Frustrated and confused.

The " a can of soap" might cause you a problem or two...LMAO.  Just kidding.

We all go through periods of poor eating.  It's normal.  You've realized it and can make the change.  Stay away from the alcohol since it's EASY EMPTY CALORIES to eliminate.  De-carb yourself.  Lots of carbs listed there.  The sooner you detox from them the easier things will be.

All that being said....I'm doing my own butt kicking because I am not seeing the scale move in the right direction lately or not at all(which is better than it moving in the wrong direction but still frustrating).  We all have the tools we just need to get to work building with them!!

YOU CAN DO IT!!

Jessica, I have been on an emotional rollercoaster for quite some time; from one extreme to another.  I HATE being an emotional eater but it's there so I HAVE to deal with it.

Ok so not the best day for you, but remember this.......we are human, we will slip up (just like normal people do).  What we have to remember is that when it happens that WE are in a position to take control of the situation and turn it around.  Hang in there.........I'm working of this myself so I understand the frustration you are going through.

My current goal is to make good choices 90% of the time and to stay honest with myself.

You ask how do you balance it, so you KNOW that is what you need - moderation and balance in your eating.  The HOW is what you need to figure out for yourself - i.e. what works for you.  It is different for everybody.

Just because you are at a "normal" weight does not mean you never have to worry about what you eat again.  If you observe other normal-sized women they are almost always conscious of what they eat and are trying to make good choices to stay that way.  Occasionally you find a woman who can eat anything she wants and never gain an ounce, but she is a rare bird.

If you are going to have a ****tail when you are out and about, stick to the lower carb ones and nurse it by taking very small sips to make it last.  When I wanted a drink and was on Atkins I would have a CC and diet coke (Canadian Club whiskey).

Kris said something very important about the empty calories in alcohol.  Please be very careful regarding the alcohol because I see that you said you don't get drunk but you are treading in a very dangerous area for a post op.  Let me ask you this...could you make a promise to go 2 weeks of going out and not drinking at all?  If you cannot do that then you may need to cut out the clubs etc for a while because you are in a place where you can easily cross addict.  You mentioned you are scared of the changes and that can cause us to self medicate with food and/or alcohol.  Please be very careful sweetie.  As hard as it might be to back off the alcohol and the clubs right now, you don't want to end up in the position of being back in a prison that's just as serious as obesity.....just different.  I'm sure there are some people here that could tell you their stories and maybe some of them will privately.  Please be very careful.  You could be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.
Many blessings, Y
