Full Bars
Personally, I think Fullbars are another rip off being sold to the obesity community. And this is why. The nature of fiber is to expand in the stomach, when taken with a water, thus causing you to feel fuller quicker. If you look at the fiber content of these Fullbars, you're not getting as much fiber as you would from say, a Fiber One bar (which I'm sure is relatively cheaper).
So, looking at the nutritional stats, there are 9 grams of dietary fiber in one Fiber One bar and 5 or less grams of dietary fiber in the Fullbars. Now - 5 grams of DF isn't anything to sneeze at but when comparing apples to apples, the carbohydrate totals of FullBar versus Fiber One is the same, but the dietary fiber is greater in Fiber One bars. 4-5 grams worth! That's considerable! PLUS you're getting more sugar in the Fullbars versus Fiber One bars. Sound the alarm! That's always bad news.
When you're looking at trying to slim down you have to take everything into account. More sugar = blood sugar issues (cravings, etc.), Less fiber = hungry sooner. So, as much as I sound like a spokesperson for General Mills Fiber One bars, I'm really just a snobby consumer. I want not only the most bang for my money, but also my caloric buck. And when you're talking probably higher cost for the Fullbar (not quite sure but anything diet is always more expensive) I'd be more prone to try the cheaper, and more nutritionally optimal choice first.
Hope that helps!

CHRIS-Did you know the FullBar things were developed by a bariatric surgeon? OH magazine did a story on him a few issues back. I tried a bar-and liked it. It took me a full 12 hr shift to eat it-I had about 1/4 at a time, with 8oz water-or more-each time. For a 12 hr meal, it wasn't a bad deal..lol. I think I had a coupon, or I probably wouldn't have bought it. Mostly I was curious. The taste was okay-sugar was a little high for me, but I didn't dump (buit-like I said-I didn't eat it all at one time). For YOU-I say GO FOR IT!--then tell US your opinion.

We Can Do Hard Things
as we use to say in NY, if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell ya. If the product actually worked, no one would need to advertise it, word of mouth would spread so fast, you wouldn't be able to find them stocked on the shelves. Give it a try, but the idea of eating something before a meal to fill you up, is an old idea, and it never worked.
They use to sell sponge type pills that were suppose to do the same thing, and they even implanted balloons into peoples stomachs hoping for significant weight loss, long story short, the results were less then stellar.
If your looking into WLS, my advice is do it sooner rather then later, time is one thing we can never get back.
