Sean, I was reading the posts by Ramon and didn't realize until I read yours just now that he actually took in water and had to be revived.

Please be SURE you guys keep an eye on Ramon at all times for the next few days.  There is a life-threatening medical condition called "secondary drowning" which can suddenly occur out of the blue up to several days after a near-drowning incident.  I saw this mentioned once on Baywatch, and did some reading up on it at the time.  Apparently the flooding of the lungs with liquid can cause a strange reaction later in which the body's own fluids suddenly fill the lungs again, resutling in a life-threatening pulmonary edema condition.   Surprisingly, many ER docs don't even know about "secondary drowning".   Scary!

Paul.... the owner of the yacht told me about secondary drowning and the emt also told me if he starts to throw up water to get him to the ER since he refused the ambulance ride and sure enough we were in Kemah and headed back to downtown Houston which is about a 35 minute drive with no traffic and about 10 minutes into the drive he started throwing up water so I turned around and came to the hospital in Kemah knowing that they would have dealt with drowning victims being in this area.....

the owner of the yacht met up with us on the drive and called the ER and told them the details before we got here so they were aware and ready for him....

Wow, Debra ..  that is SO scary ..   And so glad that Ramon once again had friends around him that could help him out in his time of need  ..

I think that mention of "secondary drowning" on Baywatch in that one eispode really helped a lot of the public (and even medical providers) become aware of this phenomenon ..
