George - BJ the Carboy update. They were scheduled to implant a port today to get him off of what they call a picc line for intravenous medication...then they were going to put in a combo defibrillator/pacemaker to keep BJ safe while he was home on bed-rest & medication for 4-6 weeks...
the port operation strained BJ's system more than they thought it would and they didn't do the defib/pacemaker surgery as scheduled...
They're going to reevaluate everything tomorrow...
Jennifer - prayer for the sale of their house.
Jenn Ewald asks prayers that her financial situation improves so she does not lose her house.
Meggie - friend Nancy is in assisted living home and is on her last days. Pray for Meggie's family also as they try to fight through this.
Vanessa (ButterflyReborn) asks for prayers for her family and for her and her spouse's health issues.
Vanessa also asked for a request for continued prayer for The Dunford Family and all of their friends, doctors, nurses, medical staff, and even all of the people that have never met Elizabeth or the Dunford's but have prayed for and/or have been affected by their story. Elizabeth's pain is over but the real, deep pain has yet to begin - especially for Michelle.
Below is one of God's children that definitely need our prayers. This is one specific cases, we know there are others out there. Remember them too.
Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2. She has improved, but still needs our prayers. Pray for this brave little girl
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Whewww what a week, full of challenges and opportunities! I am thankful I have had the opportunity to take those challenges and turn them into productive changes for the better, not only for myself but for others. So looking forward to sleeping in, in the morning! Have to make time, some time this weekend to mow the lawn, have just been too pooped to do it anytime this last week.
I have to share a funny with you... I asked DD this morning to start dishwasher before she left for school, told her to use the big green bottle of soap to fill the cup in the dishwasher.... Got a call this afternoon, "Mom, you are going to be so mad at me, I started the dishwasher before I left for school, but noticed there were huge bubbles coming out of the machine before I left." I asked, did you flood the kitchen, or did you turn off the machine before you left, "no mom, I turned it off"... Needless to say, she used a half bottle of dish washing liquid in the machine, instead of the dishwasher soap.... We spend 1.5 hours cycling the machine tonight to get all of the bubbles out of the machine from the dish soap. So thankful she started the machine before she left for school, and had the sense to stop it before she walked out of the house. I can still picture bubbles filling my kitchen and the cat sending out an sos to be rescued! So thankful it happened here and not at her dad's. My DD is like me, not the domestic goddess....
Prayers for a safe holiday weekend for all! Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests, prayers for those that don't realize they need them. Special healing prayers for our Meggie, Vanessa, Debbi T, and the Dunford family. Healing prayers for those hurting tonight for what ever reason.
Blessings to all,
Avis
I can't remember if I popped in last night or not. It's been a long week. I'm growing to hate Michael's travel weeks.
This week, I applied for 19 jobs. Three of them, I had internal referrals for, so I'm hoping that will give me some leverage and a better chance of landing something. I feel like something is going to happen soon. I'm not sure if it will be on the job or house front. Either way, it will be progress, so I don't care. I'm just ready for some movement.
Michael's back in town tonight. We're on the air right now. After the show is over, the neighbor asked us to grab a couple things for her from the grocery. Sunday, our Realtor is hosting an open house here, so hopefully that will be successful. I'm still not sure where we and the dogs will spend the afternoon. We had a showing on Wednesday, so there's very little that needs to be done before Sunday. Cut the grass, clean the outside of the leaded glass front door, sweep the porch and pick up the kitty's food plates.
Tomorrow, we've got a BBQ at the neighbor's house and then the monthly poker night. I'm hoping Michael wins so I can go buy the shoes I fell in love with on Wednesday. Sunday, we'll get up early and do the last minute stuff before the open house and then exile ourselves to somewhere. And we've got no plans for Monday.
Have a good weekend. Prayers for all who need them.

Slept in this morning until 10:30. Had to get up because Paul and Sarah were watching the US Open and screaming at shots Roger Federer was missing so that was it for sleep. Grrr... Went out to the athletic store and picked up all of V's jerseys we had to order. Wow, what a busy place on the weekend! I think they were extra busy just for the fact they will be closed on Monday so if anyone needed stuff for football, etc., they had to get it today. The girls have a match on Tuesday so I had to pick everything up today so she could wear it! We went to play tennis this afternoon. Even though it was warm, heavy cloud cover and a decent breeze every now and then so it wasn't too icky to play. It's been a while since I've been out there with the girls. OMG, those girls fired some line drive shots at me and I thought I'd lose my head. WOWZERS!!! No wonder they both made Varsity!!! The coach did put out the ranking of the kids. He definitely made an error though as he has V at position 4 which we figured was where she would be ranked, but had what everyone figured was the #5 and #6 (Heather) person down to 6 and 7 and put one girl in at slot 5 that lost to BOTH Heather and the girl that should be one ahead of Heather! We were all scratching our heads at that one. Both girls talked to the coach and he was like, "oh, I just went by the scores the other coach wrote down so I will need to go revisit that entire scoreboard. Not that it matters too much, but the girl who was slotted a bit too high, man, she is a real piece of work. Her brother is the #1 boy and I guess she thinks she needs to be right up there with him. She plays ok, but both my girls beat her EASILY so she still has some work to do. She is VERY rude though. Sorry, no need for someone to be such a snot as she seems to be. Most of the tennis team went to dinner Friday night and then to the football game. They were all sitting together which was nice, but, this girl just appeared out of no where. V all of a sudden saw her and said, "oh, hi, when did you get here"? Nothing nasty by how she asked, she just hadn't seen her. The girl looked at her and rudely said, "none of your business"! I just looked at her and thought, "geez, who pooped in your fruit loops this morning because that was really uncalled for"! I guess the girl didn't know who I was (she does now...) so I looked at V and said, "oh well V, some people just don't like to be social"! She turned around and looked right at me and I stared right at her like, "ok honey, bring it on"! She popped her little tiny butt up and took off. Whatever. I just absolutely HATE prissy kids like that. I swear. What the heck is wrong with some of these kids. Paul was like, "no worries, she'll get out there on the court and get her a$$ kicked and then after eating a bit of humble pie, she might learn to be nice to others on her team! I think one reason she isn't too friendly...the girl who is one up from Heather is very good. V and her play VERY well together and the coach picked up on that so has had both girls play together and has put them together as a doubles team against other schools. This snotty chick thinks SHE should be with this other girl so I guess is taking it out on V for the coach not putting her with her buddy. Tough cookies! Always drama!!!
Ok, I'd better scoot. I've been battling a weather-related headache today and it is kinda talking to me so I need to go "address" it!
Later....
