The NIGH****CHMAN - Thursday 9/3

He knows EXACTLY when it happened....the day after Hurricane Ike hit.  We all lost soooo much wood fencing around here.  Later in the day, the neighbors all came out and everyone just helped everyone else get stuff cleaned up.  We knew the fences all had to be replaced so spent hours carrying broken pieces to a trailer that would later go to the dump.  Paul made a ton of trips back and forth from the backyard to the front, carrying broken wood fence slats so during that time, the nerve apparently got pinched.  It's been pinched ever since.  He has numbness and that tingling feeling you get when your arm or leg falls asleep....ALL the time from just past the toes back to the mid foot.  He has put up with it as I figured he would until he got tired of it.  It's almost been a year - since he wants to pursue things further, I figure he's finally gotten sick of it!

Honestly, I believe that is the same thing I have.  My second and third toes always feel like they are asleep.  You know that numbness you get?  Mine is from the ball of the foot to the toes.  The 2,3, and 4 toes.  Wiggle the toes and they tingle.  I just put up with it. 

Paul's starts just in front of the ball of the foot but goes back to about mid foot.  A little Doppler ultrasound found the impingement immediately.  Heck, I spotted it before the doc did!!!  He actually has an extra artery running between his third and fourth toe, too!  Just more blood supply is all....better for him.  Now, he can pull his toes back to stretch out that nerve and when he lets go, for a brief few seconds, it takes that tingling and numbness away.  Doc said that is a definite tattle-tale that it is this Morton's Neuroma.  The surgery takes all of about 10-15 minutes!  He still has to be put out or at the very least, mega loopy drugs so he doesn't feel anything or for that matter, even know something has happened!

Cant believe they FINALLY figured out whats up with Paul and its THAT! WOW!!!!! Thats an easy fix and should have him feeling better in no time! enjoy the game..

I know, huh...I'm just glad it is a fairly easy procedure and NO cutting of the nerve for Pete's sake.  I was just absolutely shocked how these past couple docs that he's gone to were like, "yeah, we're gonna cut the nerve, that's the ONLY fix available".  When I mentioned the endoscopic way as the Brown Hand Center and Barrett Foot and Ankle Center do it, the guy was like, "oh, yeah, I've heard of that but don't know if it works".  Oh, geez, to cut a NERVE or not, hummm, which would be my first choice doc???  ARGH!!! 

Yeah, we like filled up that whole right side of SBUX last night!  Poor Nick, one of the night managers was like, "omg, your group has sooo many, I haven't seen this many people in here in a long time"!  I said, "yeah, kinda nice, huh?"  He just smiled.  You know, the know me all too well now.  When I pull up in the drive-thru, they have that camera so they can see who is ordering so 99% of the time as soon as they see it's me, they just say, "oh, hi Ms. Jill, come around and we'll have your tea ready".  The older girls just laugh and are like, "wow mom...there is like NO WAY we could ever misbehave in here, like if we came in here with our friends- you know ALL these people"!  I said, "just remember, I've got eyes and ears EVVVVVERYWHERE"!!!  hehehe...

that just hacks me to no end on the paul thing! just glad they finally found something for him. My sister had the same surgery a few  years ago. no biggie and its all better now. Hope its the same or him
