This is easier than I thought it would be
Today is the second day of my 2 weeks of liquids. I was really expecting these first 3 days to be really hard but so far it's been nothing of the sort. In fact, I feel like I'm staying full all the time. Between the shakes, soup and water I slosh when I move! I'm really thankful to all of you who have posted shake recipes here and in your blogs, I'm having a blast experimenting. Already have another order for syrups ready to go at Netrition! The Unjury chicken soup is fantastic, especially with a little help from some seasonings. I can use any soups of my own as long as I add protein to them and keep my daily calories between 700-900.
All these shakes are sweet and I know I'm going to get tired of them sooner or later. Maybe that's where the really hard part will be for me...finishing this 2 weeks without cheating or going postal!
12 days to go.....

It is hard, but very important NOT to cheat :) Makes for a much safer surgery! Don't be surprised if you start feeling very tired during the second week. Good news is, you'll get some rest after surgery while you recover. As for liquids, you don't get tired of them so much as you just miss eating!
In the weeks after my surgery, I enacted a no smelly food phase in my house. Everyone was respectful about it and went out for fast food, but didn't bring it home. Helped quite a bit, just a thought :)
Keep up the positive attitude and you'll be fine. Just remember, this is a very short time in your life and you'll have real food back in no time!

You are doing great and these 2 weeks will fly by!
I decided to wean myself off the coffee caffeine slowly to avoid the withdrawal headaches that can be brutal, so about 2 weeks before my liquid diet I started cutting my coffee with de-caf - 1/4, then 1/2, then 3/4 then just quit drinking it altogether. I don't remember when I started drinking coffee again - maybe a month after surgery to make sure I was healed up.
Now I use my morning coffee to get my protein powder in - chocolate caramel being my favorite.
A lot of people get the sugar-withdrawal headaches from the liquid diet, but you have done so well on your pre-op diet that you probably won't get that, either. It's a real shock for those who didn't have to do a pre-op diet to go from 3000 cal a day to 800 in liquid calories!
