I'm still in.  I haven't had a bite of chocolate in two weeks as of tomorrow.  That's huge for me.  I started eating one piece of Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate very early after surgery.  Then it went to 2 pieces.  After a while it was "a few" pieces.  I was totally out of control.

I have one of those surgeons who believes in the 2-bite rule.  You can have 2 bites of anything and it won't make you sick.  Well, when I see him for my 3 year check up next month, I'm going to explain to him that I'm a choco-holic like other people are alcoholics.  Just like they should never have the first drink, we should never have that first bite.  And I'm quickly realizing that maybe I'm not just a choco-holic, maybe I'm a sugar-holic.  I had angel food cake tonight and I'm craving more sugar.  It sucks.

Hey there!!!

Hopefully, I'll be able to post this.  (Stupid internet connection)

I need to be in, so here I am.  What else should I be doing while unemployed with no job offers.  Besides trying to return to school, I want my pre-Danson body back and BETTER.  I'm already looking at joining the Y so Danson can take swim lessons and I can take advantage of water aerobics, yoga, and who knows what else.

I need the HOW to start.  I've looked at some of the food logs, some quite impressive, but I don't have the extra money to pay for that type of service.  Same goes for the OH seminar - probably won't be there due to lack of funds, and I think it's my kid weekend anyway.  This is more for me than anything else.  At almost 7 years out, I had hoped to be a poster child for WLS.  So that didn't happen, lack of support, lazy, whatever you want to call it.

I definitely need support, so if you can offer that, great.  I'm already down being unemployed - understand I beat myself up enough to be my own gang.  As much of a foodie as I claim to be, I can't cook my way out of a paper bag, which is part of my problem.  My bf does cook, and he's post-op, but I don't live with him so I need to be able to do this on my own in MY home for Danson and me.

Like mentioned above my internet connection is iffy at home.  I can usually get to Facebook, and it's slow, but sometimes getting here is a chore.  If we are friends on FB, my number and email is under my info tab and thanks to my crackberry, I can get that all day, everyday, without problem.  If you're not in my cell, text me first if you plan on calling so I know who is contacting me.

Thanks,

Jeri

Hi Jeri!  The HOW is simple.  We started with a plan that Cajun Dana's doctor outlined for her post-op.  We did lean protein (meat, poultry, fish) and leafy greens for a couple of days, some maybe longer.  Slowly we've added back in other proteins (eggs, cheese), more veggies and some fruits.  We're staying away from those no-nutrition carbs like potatoe chips, crackers, white rice, white pasta, cakes, cookies and so on.  Some are reading Beck's book while others are keeping it simple and eating low glycemic index foods.  The one thing we've learned is that we MUST keep a food log.  Spark People, Daily Plate, Fitday are all free.  Of course a journal or an Exel cpreadsheet work just fine, too.

Support is here for you.  Just be here.  The library usually has free access.
