Plastics in my future...

I saw Dr. Jonathan Heistein yesterday and he was a lovely man.  He said it is definitely time for a panniculectomy/abdominoplasty.  He said I am an excellent candidate since I have lost 230 lbs.  He said, in a perfect world, it would be great if I could wait until I was done losing but that it really wasn't something I needed to wait on since I have so much skin to remove.  He is ready for me to have some relief.  I will also have a hernia repair done at the same time... what a change this will bring.

So, now we wait for the insurance company and then we schedule.  I covet your prayers.  I have looked at some of your profiles and gotten some good information about those of you who have done this before.  Any ideas on what made yours easier are welcome, but PLEASE no scary horror stories...

I'll keep you updated.

Blessings,
Shawn-Marie

 Congratulations Shawn- Marie,

I had a LBL so I can't really offer you any advice although i wish I had rented a lift chair.    It would have made getting up and down so much easier.    Dr.Heistein is a excellent surgeon.    I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a quick approval for your surgery !!!!

Shawn-Marie, praying you get approval quick.  As for what would of made it easier........I really didn't have allot of pain so that wasn't a big deal.  The only thing I can say is load up on protein for quick healing.

The hardest part of my plastics as the emotional part.  For some reason the plastics affected my mental state worse than the RNY, not sure why because overall I'm happy with the procedures (although I'd like to have more done).

from Deb's I can tell u borrow or rent a really comfy recliner, walker n a wheelchair if u can - u will need to stay bent over for a while and all of those will help  the walker for around the house and the wheel chair for out of the house

also be incredibly picky about your aftercare - stripping of drains change of bandeges etc - get a box of glove and use them ever time you do anything like that - that will help lower your risk of infection

and relize u will need comfy streach pants for a bit as u will be swollen - more as u r released to do stuff and r up more -and soon enough you can get zip up real pants after u heal - Debbi has a tummy to die for, flat with almost no visible scaring

oh I am jelouse as can be but super excited for you- will certainly offer up prayers on your behalf

I'm so happy you're moving on to this next stage in your journey.  You have no idea how incredible it will feel once that skin is gone and you are over the healing.  The freedom is absolutely amazing!  I'll PM you my phone number, please give me a call and I can answer any questions you have bout it.

Hugs!

Debbi
