Stricture

Well I just got back from the dr. and she seems to think I have a stricture.  She is setting me up an appointment with a gastrologist to scope and make sure and if so to fix it.
WHAT IS NEXT?????
I am so sick of these set backs and problems.  I just want to lose weight and be healthy.
I am on a liquid/puree diet until I have the scope done... surgeon told me to drink my protein shakes 3 to 4 daily to get enough vitamins and protein.
Should this be happening this soon after my surgery?  I am less than 3 months out.

Help!!!!!! I need some insight into what is going on and why.

MIFFED,
DeborahL.

Thanks Meggie.   How are you feeling?  Did you get any relief from your problem?

I will continue to pray that your problem gets resolved quickly and finally.

Hugs,
DeborahL.

Like Meggie says, it's an easy fix.  Strictures are very common especially early out.  You'll be up and running in no time.

You are right on time for a stricture.  If you are going to have one, generally they surface about 6 weeks to 3 months out.  I had two.

The procedure is a piece of cake and you will feel better immediatley.  So don't get discourged if it happens again.  Some people it just does.

Breathe.  Strictures happen often it's one of the most common "RNY complications".  The scope, from what I've heard is very easy and you'll feel almost instant relief.

Strictures happen more in the first couple of months so yes it happens "this soon".

Thanks,
I am just tire of the problems I have been having.  I hate hospitals, drs and more tests, and procedures.

Hugs,
DeborahL

RNY on 03/30/09 with

Deborah,

I had a stricture also.  It was about 4 or 5 weeks post op.  My nutritionist is actually the one *****cognized the symptoms and told me I needed to talk to my doctor.  I wound up having to have two endoscopies to clear it, so don't be discouraged if you have to do it more than once.  My GI said that is pretty common.  The actual procedure was a breeze.  Just know that things will get better.  I have not had a problem since.  Believe me, I understand what you're going through right now.  I was beginning to feel like I was never going to be able to keep anything more than liquids down.  Trust me.  It will get better.

Take care,

Luckily I have not vomited.  I just hurt so bad and it feels like a knife be twisted between my breasts.  I pray this gets better real soon.

Thanks,
Deborah
