Eating and Drinking
For my friend that I mentioned in a post below, it has. She gets really sick when she eats and drinks together. For me, I havent tried it!
Also if you are pushing the food through your stomach and it doesnt get the digestion it needs, then it doesnt have enough time to break down and be absorbed, adding to our absorption issues.
Get the gum! I love it, and helps get taste and keep the thirstiness at bay for an hour.

Julie, the main reason is to stay full longer. The liquids will push your food through, I've actually found myself testing the water occasionally and I can honestly say it's the truth, it does allow me to eat more and I don't stay satisfied as long.
As for the digestion, the intestines actually absorb the nutrients so I don't believe you are losing nutrients........I would like studies and information if someone has them to show one way or another OR maybe one of our nurses can share their knowledge?
Do yourself a favor, learn to not drink and if you MUST then take one swig to rinse out your mouth. Thirty minutes actually goes by pretty fast.
Ok here is a quick article on digestion and absorption. Most nutrient absorption occurs in the small intestine

True confession time. Ever since Day ONE I've drank with my meals. I'm just one of those people who is constantly thirsty. It has not inhibited my digestion in any way BUT I do get hungry sooner than most and I can eat a LOT more than most people. SO, I would suggest if at all possible, you refrain. I don't drink a lot but I do drink with every meal.

At first I never drank with my meals. But over the last 6-8 months I have started that bad habit. It seems like there are times things don't want to go down. I don't drink a whole lot but I do have a few drinks with my meals. I also forget not to drink 30 minutes before my meals. So I am working on that. My biggest problem during the day is that I don't always have a set lunch time. I just go and eat when I can.
I do not drink with meals , like previously stated, it makes the food push through the pouch faster so you get hungry again much sooner than you would normally. I eat and then I get really thirsty, so I take that time to spend 30 minutes doing something productive ... I usually give my son a bath after I eat dinner, after lunch I spend a few minutes with my husband before he goes back to work, then after breakfast I check my email and get the kids ready for school. If you stay focused, you can do it.
