This week since I have been ill...

Well since I have been ill this week and not up to eating anything I have lost another 3 lbs since Monday.  Yesterday I drank 2 protein shakes and drank as much liquids as possible.  I did eat a little pork roast with carrots last night for dinner, very little.
My blockage finally broke loose this morning about 2:30 am.  Damn the pain I felt until that happened.  I was doubled over in the fetal position for most of the night.  I wanted to scream and would only bite my pillow to keep from waking everyone up.
I still have some pain, but not like it was, THANK GOD.
I pray this never happens again.  I go to the dr. Friday to make sure there weren't any problems forseen in the CT Scan.
Please pray with me that NO MORE SURGERY IS NEEDED.  The dr. in the ER Monday, sort of suggested it might happen, and I don't want that.

Hugs to all,
DeborahL.

You poor thing !!!!   I am glad you are better now.  Is this related to your RNY surgery?  I hope you do not have to be cut on again.

The way the ER dr. talked it might be related.  It just made a part of my bowel very lazy and not moving things through properly...
She also said that she has even see a part of the bowel die after surgery.  I pray that isn't what mine is trying to do...God forbid.

I go to see my surgeon Friday so I will know more hopefully after I see her.
Hugs, Deborah

Oh Deborah how scary and painful!!  Bowel obstructions can be very dangerous so I know your doc will take it seriously.  Hopefully, all is well now but you might experience a few days of general soreness.  Please let us know what he says on Friday.  But in the meantime if you have any more painful episodes, call him immediately or go to the ER.

Hopefully there won't be anymore episodes.  I am going to continue the lite diet for a couple more days.  I took 2 Dulcalax at bedtime last night and that is what helped break this up.  Yes it was quite painful.  My surgeon is great... when I called her and told her about my pain Monday morning, that is when she told me to go to the ER and have a CT Scan done.
I hate that ER... they don't get any hurry to take care of you at St. David's in Austin.  I went in at 10:40 am and they ran the first test on me at 12:20pm.  I was released at 5:15 pm.  They gave me a choice of stay over night or go home... I went home...LOL

wow im not sure what ER you are used to going to, but going in at 1040 and first test at 1220 is extremely fast from what im used to dealing with.  No matter what size the town or er!

That was a urine test to make sure I didn't have a urinary tract infection... Then they did an IV for fluids and drew blood, then tried to make me drink 4 LARGE styrofoam cups full of contrast... I reminded them that I had gastric bypass and that it would take hours and hours for me to be able to drink that much fluids... They said, Oh thats right you did have surgery, but why would it take that long?  I said, MY stomach is the size of a golf ball!!!!!  She came back about 30 minutes later and said well drink what you can of these 2 large cups but try to get them down in 10 minutes...LOL yeah right.  I told her there was NO WAY I could even remotely drink that much in 10 minutes.  STUPID PEOPLE DON'T LISTEN.  I drank what I could and almost made myself sick doing it.  Come to find out, they were going to give me the Iodine contrast since I couldn't drink all of that other stuff.
I also had a perverted security guard, that was guarding a patient next door to me, that kept walking to my door and looking in on me.  I closed the blinds but they were broke.  He would walk around the corner and stop in front of my door and stare in at me.  I finally closed the curtain and called him a "DAMN PERVERT PEEKING TOM".  I did report him to the hospital.
I really don't like that ER.  They had 2 people die in ER while I was there.  Both were stroke victims.  Scary....

((((Deborah)))) Sorry sweetie, glad you were proactive and went to the ER.  Blockages can happen to any and all of us, anytime.  Please continue to be proactive if you feel any additional pain.

The pain was horrible.  It started Sunday night and continued through the night and into Monday morning.  I slept about 1 hour.  Then finally the dr. opened and I called her and she told me to go to the ER.
I have read of others having blockages and they scare the devil out of me.  I don't want any problems in that area for sure.
