close to the edge - need assistance in dallas
calling all dallas and/or dr. barker's patients. I need help. I almost feel like i need a sponsor. someone to help keep me motivated. I just feel like i am losing steam... I am running out of ideas of what to eat. I am extremely tired. I have only been to the gym once this week (i was going twice a week mon-friday). I need somebody to help hold my hand through this process.

Angela, that is exactly what we are all here for. Good for you reaching out like this. Support can make all the difference in your journey.
You may be tired if you're not getting in proper nutrients. Are you meeting minimum protein requirements? Water? Vitamins? If not fatigue will absolutely set in. You don't have to answer me, but you must be truthful with yourself. Log your intake if you're not already. That's the only way you'll know for sure. I use fitday. It's free and user friendly.
Boredom can be a momentum killer so lets get you goin with some new things. Do you cook? If so my fave website is a blg called The Workd According to Egg Face. She is a WLS patient and an OH member. She has a ton of great recipes and lists of protein foods. When someone else does the thinking for you, it makes your planning much easier.

i am taking my vitamins.. i think i need to watch my protien, and liquids a little closer. However I think the energy I am lacking may be due to me not going to the gym as much. I will watch my protien, liquids, and drag myself to the gym.
I have my first follow-up apt. today. Whi*****ludes a group meeting. So hopefully this will help me get back on track.

You're SOOOO new!! Give your body time to heal. Your system is still adjusting to what's happened inside. Support is huge. Make sure you are getting in your protein(it helps the healing process) and relax. This journey is the funnest ride ever!
Post often and try not to stress on yourself. This WILL happen. It's barely been 2 months. You are RIGHT on track! You go girl!

hi,
Like my sister Kris says. you are soooooo new! I thought i got run over by a train for the first 3 months!! I kept saying 'where's this burst of energy everyone keeps talking about?? " Having surgery in the summer is really hard as well IMO. I had surg in march and had a hard time the 1st summer getting all my fluids in ... so make sure you dont have a slight case of dehydration going there. Youre doing great.. if you have your 1st follow up today?? girl, breathe.. and keep coming here. we have ALL been there! I remember saying how crappy i felt the first few months, and an experienced post op looking me straight in the eyes saying 'Liz, its a ***** aint it'. so i knew i was gonna make it and you will too!

When I was born, I cried and the world rejoiced. Now i wanna live my life so that when I die, the world cries and I rejoice
Angela, I'm a "Barker Babe" and live in Rowlett. I have no idea where you live but if you need one-on-one support feel free to give me a shout. It gets so much easier when you're able to eat more and have more variety. Hang in there. We're here for you. Also ask for a meeting with his nutritionist when you go in. She'll have some great ideas of foods to eat for nutrition and variety.

I am a little over two months out and still find that I am really tired. I also know that I feel much better when I get out and exercise...so I make myself do it and feel so much better afterwards. Although, I do find that when I exercise alot, I sleep really late the next day. I am sure it takes awhile for you body to adjust to the extreme cut in calories and it is still recovering from surgery.
take it one day at a time and don't put too much pressure on yourself!

Angela what you are going through is VERY normal at this stage of the game. Have you been cleared to workout?? I was told not to work out at the gym for 6 weeks at least. To just wal****il then so be careful if you are lifting weights and such. Remember you had major sugery and your body needs to heal.
Your body is adjusting to fewer calories and it is going to be low on energy for a while. Once your body adjust you will feel the energy return. As far as eating I hated eating when I was at your stage. Nothing really tasted good and it would be cold before I could get it all down. It seemed like everything I could have has a sweet taste. I wanted some real meat.LOL At 6 weeks I started doing WW dinners for lunch. I couldn't eat all of it but it was at least a change for me. Others may tell you not to do that but it worked for me. I just focused on my protein and sugars at your stage. I was only taking in about 500 calories a day. I also would make tuna or chicken salad and eat about 3 fat free ritz crackers and a few tablespoons of it with it for a meal. The Ritz crackers would desolve so easy that they didn't bother me. Keep drinking your protein drinks because you need that protein right now since you aren't able to eat enough to get it all in. You might try freezing your protein drinks and eating them like ice cream for a little bit of a change.
Please keep coming here for help and encouragement. We are all here for you.
