The NIGH****CHMAN - Sunday 8/23

Good afternoon all.  What a good day it is.  Sitting here watching the Rangers game, figured I would start the thread.

My son got 2 dogs yesterday.  I think it was out of pity.  The lady wanted $15 each for them (to pay for the shots she had gotten for them).   They are boxer/labs mixed.  She had 7 pups and was going to bring them to the ASPCA on Monday.  She kept the 7 of them in a pen 6'x6'.  Brad and Oleta felt bad.  They ended up getting the two and not paying anything for them.  So they are happy.  And the grandkids are happy.

Not much else going on right now.  Will be back later tonight.

If you are new to the board, this link explains what the NIGHT WATCHMAN is (if you are interested).  Otherwise, just read on, you will probably figure it out anyway.

Anonymous prayers for the friend of a TMBer, who is very troubled at this time.  I have been in touch with the TMBer and prayers are still needed.

Prayer requests are listed below.

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT:

Anne and her spouse
Jennifer - (Cruise Director Julie) - still interviewing
Jen Ewald - hoping for a traveling position to open up shortly
Jeri
Lalocaweta and spouse
Stephanie and her friend Mack
Vicki V.

Those who are not yet unemployed, but layoffs are looming

Upcoming Surgeries:

Nannetteb - Revision surgery Aug 19th.

Recovering from Surgery:

Christopher J - had his RNY on 7/21.  He is recovering, but had a stricture.  It was repaired on 8/14, now the recovery from that surgery moves on.

Dana's sister Renee is recovering from two surgeries.  Her skin graft on her leg is not healing properly.

Janet (1divaatheart) spouse recovering from kidney surgery.

Karen (Misty750342002) - Pray for her spouse as he as recovers from his eye surgery in an attempt to save his eyesight.

Other prayer requests:

Jenn Ewald asks prayers that her financial situation improves so she does not lose her house.

Meggie - friend Nancy is in assisted living home and is on her last days.  Pray for Meggie's family also as they try to fight through this.

Vanessa (ButterflyReborn) asks for prayers for her family.

Vanessa also asked for a request for continued prayer for The Dunford Family and all of their friends, doctors, nurses, medical staff, and even all of the people that have never met Elizabeth or the Dunford's but have prayed for and/or have been affected by their story.  Elizabeth's pain is over but the real, deep pain has yet to begin - especially for Michelle.

Below is one of God's children that definitely need our prayers.  This is one specific cases, we know there are others out there.  Remember them too.

Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2. She has improved, but still needs our prayers.  Pray for this brave little girl

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Shew-eeee dogs, you are early today!!!  Ahhh, but I am too!!!  Actuallllly, getting ready to sit down and start figuring who gets what for lunch as all THAT starts again TONIGHT!  Sarah saw the school lunch menu for tomorrow and snubbed her nose up big time...PIZZA!  She absolutely HATES the school pizza!  YIPPEE!!!  Actually there are only a few things she actually likes which I'm happy to hear.  All of them are at the gym with their dad...the girls are working on getting their mile time down (that will be an everlasting event for them!!!) and Sarah is playing while Paul i****ting either the machines or sometimes tries to jump in to a pick-up game of basketball.  He says the problem there is it all depends upon who is playing.  If it is a few middle aged guys like himself, they readily let people in, but if it is a bunch of "youngins", well, they are not so willing to let "the old guys" play!  HA!  So, he's also armed with his racquetball equipment so will go play that with Viktoria if there is a court open, which there usually is on a Sunday afternoon.  He called right after he got there saying the gym was empty! Guess everyone is out there shopping tax free on clothes and school supplies today.  I had to do a little of that myself today but not much else is on the agenda.  Will finish up laundry so everyone has clean clothes for the week, then lunches are last before going to bed!  Sarah is so excited.  The older two, eeeh, not so much so.  Viktoria is actually quite nervous.  She got just like this when it was her first year in Jr. High, too.  I told her not to worry, there were going to be LOTS of kids in the same boat as her - nervous and not knowing where to go!  I think it is STUPID, but they don't have schedules ready until their first period class so NONE of the kids know where they are to go that first day.  OMG the chaos in trying to look at posterboards with their names on it is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!  I already suggested to the counselors that they just email the stupid schedules to the kids over the weekend.  If they can't send the entire schedule, AT LEAST give them their first period class in advance!!!  Their school is darn near close to 3000 kids so having all those kids trying to look up their names on posterboards???  Good grief!!!  Paul will be taking the girls tomorrow for the first day so they can get there well before the bus would get them there, but then from that point on, he's going to make them ride the bus which isn't making them too happy.  Oh well!  No point in driving there every morning as their school isn't in the same direction as the park-and-ride where Paul goes in the morning.  Of course, that's why Heather keeps mentioning..."when I get my license...."  good grief...

Ok, gotta run, be back later!!!

I would follow up to Heather with "when you get a job".  LOL.  Believe it or not, my kids did not get behind the wheel of a car until they got out of high school.  Outside of the time my son stole my car.  But that's another story.

Wish them well in school for me.  Hope the girls' schedules work out well for them.

Phyllis, I am your friend, so I know I can say this and you know it comes from the heart.  You have no one to blame for the weight gain and you know it.  You have taken acceptance for that responsibility. Good for you.  Now, let's do something about it.  I am here for you to lean on whenever (after 1PM... LOL).  Mary is there when I am not.  Text us.  Call us.  Whatever it takes.  We will help you.  Guess you can't until you get the replacement.  Let me know when you do.

Read PM.  God bless.

Evening George,

Has been a good weekend here.  Did a little shopping yesterday, and much deep breathing after wards  Let's just say I "hate" shopping, DD "just" had to stop at one store...  Now she understands, "tax free" weekend is just not a good time for mom to go shopping!!

Did some cleaning today, have 4 huge bags of stuff to go to my BFF's daughter for her girls, I'll work some more next weekend on getting rid of my too big clothes.   There's already 2 bags to hit Goodwill, I work 7 am to 5 pm, and have no way of getting them to the OH conference coming up.  (Just know someone is going to mention this)

We went to see "The Time Travelers Wife", this afternoon, pretty good chick flick.... they had technical difficulties on getting the movie started, so we have passes for a free movie.... gotta like that!

Just pulled the last load of laundry out of the dryer, hitting the pillows next.  DD has already been warned, if she misses the bus in the morning, she's in deep doo doo!

Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests.  Special prayers for those hurting tonight for what ever reason.

Blessings to all,
Avis

Have a good day tomorrow.

It's been a while since i popped in here, so wanted to give an update.
Thanks for keeping me and Mack on the prayer list.
He's been unemployed since December, and still no job. He doesn't qualify for unemployment and things are starting to get really rough. He really needs work.
I've been unemployed since April. Thank God, honestly, for unemployment or i'd be homeless. I've applied for federal funding to go to school to train maybe as an LVN. That would take a year, then i could go to work and be earning Something, and maybe continue my education as an LVN. There are very few journalism jobs out there and even with 15 years in the biz it's nearly impossible to find work, so having to look at other careers.
I am making a point to get out 5 to 6 days a week and work out - usually an hour, sometimes an hour and a half to two hours. Just doing something physical helps stave off depression, and makes me feel good. But i have a problem with my rotator cuff, they're calling it tendonitis in my shoulder and i'm in physical therapy for that now, so i can't do any weight training with my upper body - can only work back (If it doesn't involve my arms) and my lower body, plus cardio.
The weight is slow to come off, not losing much right now, but still plugging away.
Anyways... i don't know if the fundng will come through for school, and even if i get approved, it's too late for most fall classes. So i really need work - i'm applying for all kinds of things, but just not hearing anything back at all.
Thanks for ya'lls continued prayers.

Check out Steph's Musings, her new blog, often on weight loss surgery and its results.
