Protein Shake Recipes? Particularly with Unjury unflavored?

I figured if I needed help, who better to ask than the experts??? LOL

I have some unjury coming any day now...and I can't wait to start protein shakes again...but I know I need to change it up a little...anyone have any good recipe ideas???

The one I use now is with 2% milk, sf choc syrup, and a few tbsp of peanut butter for extra protein. And usually the unjury foams up so much, I have to divide this into two shakes. LOL

Also anyone have any other good protein ideas? I eat mostly deli meat, cheese, string cheese, sometimes eggs, etc...any kind of meat, I know is a good source.

KIM-I have used MANY types of protein powders over the past 7+ years. Unjury remains my fave. THEY should pay ME for all the kudos I give them here. I'm not usually a chocolate lover (weird for a girl, I know) but I usually have chocolate unjury AT LEAST once a day. I either have it in a shake--with 1/2 milk, 1/2  iced coffee and some SF caramel syrup or I just mix a scoop in a serving of already mixed up SF pudding-either vanilla or chocolate. It mixed great-no lumps, no mess, no problem. I keep the unflavored on hand, but, to be honest, I hardly ever use it. The vanilla is good and the strawberry is okay, but I just really like the chocolate. I've been using exclusively since I "discovered" it..probably 2 years now.

Can you tell I'm not a cook???

Here's my favorite protein shake recipe:

One cup Hood's Calorie Countdown CHOCOLATE milk product (Walmart in the milk section)
One scoop Chocolate protein powder
3 frozen strawberries ( or a 1/2 a fresh banana)
Benefiber (optional)

Blend in my magic bullet and freeze for an hour or two.  Eat it like ice cream.  Can be made days ahead of time and remove from freezer about 1-1.5 hours before you plan to eat it. (or if you're starving nuke it in the microwave until it softens).

You can use the unflavored in SF/FF pudding or in things you bake.  I personally only use the chocolate.

Good sources of protein are: any type of meat, cheese (watch the calories), shrimp, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta cheese.  I always keep a bag of cooked frozen shrimp at the ready.  I can hold them under water for a few minutes to defrost and have a great high protein snack.

Gina and Stphanie.....does the Unjury unflavored have a taste? I've ordered samples of all the flavors before I ordered any. I'm trying to come up with another way to get my protein other than sweet shakes.

DEE-I can detect an aftertaste..others swear they cannot. It's not a BAD taste, but it's there-to ME

I agree - it has a slight after taste.  Not bad, but there.  Depends on what you mix it with - some flavors cover it better than others.  Creamed soups disguise it pretty good.  Your suggestion with the ramen flavor packs is a good one for early post-op.

I'm an Unjury fan too but strictly unflavored. My sister and I now have a standing order for 6 every 2 months, 6 gives you free shipping and auto ship is a big discount too-so it works out to 13.70 per container, or less than a $1 per scoop- I haven't found any good quality protein for less than $1 per 20 grams.  I used it in fruit smoothes at first but when I was able to start coffee again(I know its controversial but I'm 50+ need that little kick to get going)  I came up with my morning protein coffee to take the place of my past reliance on flavored creamers.
1scoop instant milk (Kroger makes one that dissolves instantly no lumps)
pour in hot coffee
add SF flavor (DaVinci or Torani at Eggfaces suggestion) Carmel and Coconut are my favs
add some skim milk to cool coffee then use a fork to slowly stir in the scoop of Unjury (try not to inhale at this point, the protein smell is strong til it dissolves)
Top with more warm coffee- and or Benefiber as needed

I frequently add a scoop of Unjury to a scoop of "Click" in the afternoon -also add SF flavors and sometime extra powder milk to boost the protein-tough to get all the protein in with out shakes.
Click is now available on Amazon.com for under $21 per container-sold out but they are still taking the orders to forfil ASAP.

Sorry the chicken soup was nasty-you will really need to doctor it up to get it down I'm afraid.
