Back to Basics Monday-who wants to join me?

I did not start the BTB challenge with ya'll last week but I'm definately starting mine Monday.  I have not exceeded my "5 lb maintanence range" but it's just cuz I've been darn lucky.  My portion sizes are out of control, "bad" carbs have re-entered my life BIG TIME and I haven't exercised in months.  Also (big confession here), I ONLY drink Diet Coke- no water.  I literally slept almost all day today cuz I ate no "real food", just crap.  NO MORE, it's time to do what's HARD cuz FAILURE is NOT an OPTION.

So MY plan for Monday and the days that follow is:
1. Log my food on Sparkpeople

2. No more "bad" carbs-meaning ice cream, candy, donuts, chips.  Instead I have loaded up on fresh fruit, SF/FF pudding and popsicles for desserts and snacks.

3. Protein first- my freezer is stocked so NO excuses.  I also went to Sam's and bought some frozen "grilled chicken breasts" that you just throw in the microwave for one minute and they're ready to eat.  Each filet has 170 calories and 30 gm of protein (if you can eat a whole one).  These are great to take to work.

4.  WATER

5.  Get back to exercising on my day's off.  "Baby steps" at first will lead to bigger things in the long run.  I felt so much better when I was exercising.

6.  Post to the August Adventure daily for support.

7.  Read the Beck Diet Solution book (I bought it today).

NOW...WHO WANTS TO JOIN ME????  Make your plan whatever YOU need it to be, you will probably have different needs and goals than me.  But TOGETHER we can win this battle.

Im with you!!!!  Thank you for the idea of the grilled chicken breast, I really needed solutions of what to take to work for lunch and thats great! I had a really bad day today, I had to bake some cookies for a church function and I ate 6 of them.  I feel so horrible, but Im going to bru**** off and get back to the plan.

1. Log my food everyday also (OH now has a food diary on the health tracker)

2.  I too need to get rid of the sweet stuff, going to work really hard at it.

3.  Get at least an hour of exercise 5/week.  This is a must!  Im starting the couch to 5K tomorrow!

4. Water.  I was getting it in for a while, but I have noticed the last week or so that I havent done so well.

I know that we can do this! Especially together.

Good for you on the exercise thing Miss Joan.  For me that seems to be the hardest part.  There's just not enough hours in the day (that's my excuse anyway). Glad you're joining us.

well you know i'm in .  haven't quite figured out yet what i will do.

I am planning to stay with this till the OH conference which is only 40 days away.  I figure if Moses can wander thru the wilderness for 40 days and Elijah can fast for 40 days.. I can stay on track for 40 days.  I personally need a goal day to stay with it. So i do know I will try these things:

1. make sure I have the right food available and will eat frequently before it's too late and i get desperate.

2. Stop eating before 8pm and no late night snacks.

3. Get off the scale and try to put it away for a few days at a time.

4. Get on the walking shoes and getting my lazy butt outside.

Do we need to make a "NO SCALE PACT"?  I know how you obsess over that little biotch in the box.  We could ONLY weigh on Monday mornings?  I think one of the things we forget is it takes 3500 calories to make a pound.  Considering OUR calorie count is so much less than a "normal" persons, it will take us longer to cut out that many calories in order to see a drop.  Just a little "food for thought".

So, you're saying.. if Elijah can go without food for 40 days, I can go without the Biotch for 7? ( Can you tell i've been reading up for my childrens' church lesson? lol!)

If it takes 3500 calories for most people, it's got to take 350 for me!  But I know there is no rhyme nor reason to it.

Okay I will agree to putting the biotch away, if someone else obsession does too. Last time, Peter put it in his truck and I couldn't get to it.

Well here is my thinking - With all I have been thru in my life already - how hard can this be? Well, hard!  But I can do it!

Now I need to figure a food MENU.. since it can't be a diet!

Anyone willing to try this with me for 40 days?

Who's willing to dump the Biotch in a Box?

Becky you KNOW I love my scale too but for YOU, I will commit to ONLY weigh on Mondays.  So after tomorrow morning's weigh-in, I'll give it to Clay for a week.  I'm not sure about the 40 day thing but I'll certainly take it one week at a time.  I'm going to read the Beck Solution that entails a 6 week program so we'll see how I do.

OH hell, honey.. there is NO way I could go 40 days without weighing!  and besides. and recounted and there are only like 35 days!!!  duh, man, I was tired yesterday.

I will try for only weighin once a week, but might just have to start with NOT weighing after work and before bed.  Or skipping to every 3 days or something and work up to once a week.

So I can't be Moses unless I'm doing the Readers Digest condensed version of the wandering in the wilderness!!! LOL

I'm in with you...was already planning to do this starting Monday.  I have about the same goals as everyone else:

cut out the carbs...bad ones
exercise
up the protein
read the Beck Diet Solution...ordered it and the workbook, plus 2 high protein, low carb cookbooks that got good ratings from Amazon a couple of days ago.

We can do this together!

I'm in!!!!!

Anyone know how I can get to the August Adventure board???

I'm tracking everything I put in my mouth...writing it down...if need be I can share it on here... Cut out ALL the sodas and I'm drinking ONLY water flavored with crystal light and sugar free koolaid. I've been getting in about 4 bottles a day.

When I get hungry in between meals, I've been trying to eat a protein bar or even low fat string cheese. My favorite source of protein is Sara Lee Peppered Turkey from the deli at walmart...dip it in mustard and I'm in heaven...so I use that and a slice or so of cheese as meals usually...

I also ordered a few cans of unjury on Thursday...expecting them by Wednesday...and then I will do at least one-two shakes a day....

And I'm planning on joining yall at the OH conference!!!
