GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
I'm having a very low key, but good day. I finally broke down and took a sleeping pill last night. I don't like taking them when I'm home alone - I'm afraid if someone were to break in, I'd sleep right through it - but I was getting cranky and irrational. I feel great today! I forget how good it feels to not be sleep deprived.
After last week being a record week for job postings, this week has been pretty sparse. Hopefully things will get better once the kids go back to school next week. I've only applied for 6 jobs this week. There's another 2-3 that I could apply for, but I'm going to hold them for Monday in case it's another slow week.
I had a great afternoon out with one of my neighbors. I'm kind of sad that we only finally met this summer. She's one of the few people here locally I'll miss when we finally move. We went to the Emily Morgan hotel downtown for their weekly martini lunch which is always fun. It was good to get out and have some girl talk.
Michael's on his flight back to SAT. He lands in 2 hours. Between now and then, I need to go pay my car payment and buy cat food for the feral cat that lives on our porch. We're having dinner with our neighbors and then will be on the air with the radio show tonight.
I'm looking forward to some quality time this weekend. It's been a long time since Michael and I have gone a week without seeing each other and I've missed him.
Have a great afternoon. I'll be on and off. Prayers for all who need them. :)

If I were lying, wouldn't my pants be on fire?!?
Shew...crazy night! A storm came rolling through around 7:30 or so and holy smokes, lots of rain which was a beautiful thing!!! Now, the power outage...not so beautiful. Oh well...we broke out the candles and flashlights, then it came on, then off again, then back on for a while. Thought we were done and then about 9:30 it went off again and that time for well over 30 to 45 min! Poor Heather was in the shower when it went off! I ran up there with a flashlight and just told her to hurry it up! Sarah absolutely HATES when the power goes out so I found her a small flashlight as it just spookes the heck out of her. About a year ago I hooked my computer, cable modem and my transcription equipment up to a battery back-up system. I absolutely LOVE that thing!!! Sometimes you might get the lights to go off for a second and if that's the case, the cable modem usually disconnects and it's always a hassle to get everything up and running again. By having it all plugged into the battery back-up, it stays "alive" so if it is truly just a flicker, no harm/no foul. When it goes out for more than the flicker, it at least gives you time to safely power down and it doesn't screw up the modem for later! I need to get one for the upstairs computer. The only thing I don't have plugged into it is my laser fax machine. My printer is one that has no electrical cord - it only has a USB that is attached to my computer but I did power it off so it wouldn't keep turning on and off! After the power went off twice, I just shut my fax off.
I had to go to the athletic store and order V a few shirts. The old coach only had shirts up to a size large, and the large is a scant "large" in my opinion. Heather is a size 8-10 and even SHE opted for the size large shirts. Well, V is definitely larger so she opted for the large ones but they truly do not fit. The new coach and I were talking and he IMMEDIATELY could see she was VERY self conscious about it being so snug. He told her to just take it off and we'd figure something out. Well, for practice shirts, for now, she can wear her own shirts as long as it has something to do with Katy High School - which she has a couple. I asked the coach when or if they are going to order new shirts and he said not until next season (they get new shirts every two years I believe), so I asked him if I could just go buy my own that she could keep. He said, "absolutely"! He apologized profusely for not having the proper sized shirts and vowed that regardless whether she stays that size or loses weight and eventually fits into the regular ol' Large ones, he will make sure he has a few XL sizes, just in case someone needs a larger size! So, I need to get her like three practice shirts and two match day shirts. The practice shirts will cost me a mint since they are screen printed on both sides in multiple color, but thankfully the match day shirts are only done in red screen printing so hopefully not as much. The lady who does the pricing of stuff like that wasn't in today so she will call me Monday with the prices. It stinks because I can't really do anything about it as she has to have shirts to play in! UUUGH! Oh well - I know she will not be self conscious in them and that's all that matters...
Ok, time to go wake up Paul and send him to bed. He's in the other room on the couch...SNORING! hehehe....

Well, I survived my first week at the new job, I know panic will set in Monday morning, I'll be on my own then. I know I can do the job, just those darn insecure feelings creeping in, praying I'll get through the learning curve quickly. Nothing else new in my world.
Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests. Special prayers continue for Elizabeth Grace's family, doctors, medical staff, and friends, may God continue to hold them close as they lay this precious child to rest. Special prayers for all that are hurting tonight, for what ever reason.
Wishing everyone a blessed and wonderful weekend!

A very good friend of mine had RNY on Aug 10. She went back to the hospital on Aug18 with what they diagnosed as an obstructed bowel. They went in Lap and discovered that it was much worse and they had to open her up. She has a rip in her pouch, her "intestines were a mess" per my friend and she has peritonitis. They hooked her up to 3 drains, a feeding tobe, PCA pump, antibiotics and now she had a PICC(midline) placed the other day because she keeps blowing her IV's. When I saw her on Wed her fever was coming down and even though she was in pain, she was walking and movig. This morning I talked to her and she told me she thought she had pneumonia. In talking with her more, her breathing was very gurgly....so unless she has fluid over load, she probably is dealing with pneumonia now.
Please, Please....can you all pray for her, send your positive thoughts, or whatever your beliefs are her way?? We were very good friends in HS, and lost touch and found eachother again about 1 1/2 yrs ago and have really bonded again. As her friend and a nurse, I am VERY worried about her. She has 3 children 18, 15 and 7. THANK GOD she has amazing and supportive parents.
Thank you to you all!
