The NIGH****CHMAN - Thursday - and a plea

Good afternoon/evening everyone.  I want to take this time to explain what the NIGHT WATCHMAN is, to refresh some memories and to inform the newbies.

I work overnight, so I read the board during the very late/early hours.  The running statement was that I watch over the board overnight.  Hence the name.

The NIGHT WATCHMAN started sort of like a night time train.  Truthfully, I originally started it to help out David with his daily prayer list.  I don't know how much he actually used it, but it grew as a place to list the many prayer requests.  That is a big part of the NIGH****CHMAN thread, but not the only part.  I also envisioned it being a place where you could just stop in and say hi.  Wrap up your day.  A lot of people on the train tell about what their plans are for the day.  I wanted this to be a place where you could tell what you did do.

As far as prayer requests go, please let me know what you want us to pray for.  But also, keep us updated on the status.  Sometimes the list gets unmanageable because I tend to try to leave requests on there until it is requested to take it off.  But if I do not receive an update, I assume the Lord answered your prayer in some way.  As always, in His way.

So if you have a request, please let me know.  I will put you on the list.  I now have three newer sections.  One for employment. one for surgeries and one for recovering from surgery.  Please keep me updated on those fronts also.  Stop in and let everyone know how your job search is going, how you feel about your upcoming surgery, and how your recovery is coming.

Also, please feel free to just visit here.  Tell us about how your day went.  Your successes.  Your failures.  Your fun.  Whatever.  When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.

Please, let me know you are out there.  Lurkers, come on out.  Just say hi.

Sorry I babbled on so long. Thanks for listening.  And thanks for being there.

Now, here is the nightly thread.

Anonymous prayers for the friend of a TMBer, who is very troubled at this time.  I have been in touch with the TMBer and prayers are still needed.

Prayer requests are listed below.

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT:

Anne and her spouse
Jennifer - (Cruise Director Julie) - still interviewing
Jen Ewald - hoping for a traveling position to open up shortly
Jeri
Lalocaweta and spouse
Stephanie and her friend Mack
Vicki V.

Those who are not yet unemployed, but layoffs are looming

Upcoming Surgeries:

Nannetteb - Revision surgery Aug 19th.

Recovering from Surgery:

Christopher J - had his RNY on 7/21.  He is recovering, but had a stricture.  It was repaired on 8/14, now the recovery from that surgery moves on.

Dana's sister Renee is recovering from two surgeries.  Her skin graft on her leg is not healing properly.

Janet (1divaatheart) spouse recovering from kidney surgery.

Karen (Misty750342002) - Pray for her spouse as he as recovers from his eye surgery in an attempt to save his eyesight.

Other prayer requests:

Jenn Ewald asks prayers that her financial situation improves so she does not lose her house.

Meggie - friend Nancy is in assisted living home and is on her last days.  Pray for Meggie's family also as they try to fight through this.

Vanessa (ButterflyReborn) asks for prayers for her family.

Vanessa also asked for a request for continued prayer for The Dunford Family and all of their friends, doctors, nurses, medical staff, and even all of the people that have never met Elizabeth or the Dunford's but have prayed for and/or have been affected by their story.  Elizabeth's pain is over but the real, deep pain has yet to begin - especially for Michelle.

Below is one of God's children that definitely need our prayers.  This is one specific cases, we know there are others out there.  Remember them too.

Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2. She has improved, but still needs our prayers.  Pray for this brave little girl

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hi George,

I just wanted to say thank you for doing the NW.  Please change my prayers for my husband.  He came thru surgery just fine.  Now we need prayers that he will get his sight back.  He still has to much swelling to determin how much sight he will get back.

Hope all is going well with you and Mary.

Hi George;

Sorry I've been missing a lot of the week. I haven't been able to sleep through the night, so I've been sleeping whenever I can and then spending the evenings at the neighbors since they've decided to feed me for the week in Michael's absence.

Not much has been going on. Michael comes home tomorrow. I'm looking forward to that. It's been a long time since we went a full week without seeing each other.

There hasn't been a lot of job opportunities this week and I haven't gotten any calls on the jobs I applied for last week. No one has been to look at the house this week either. I'm hoping it's just that people are prepping for the kids to go back to school next week and next week will be a better week.

Today is 4 months since I lost my job. It doesn't have me down as much as the other monthly milestones. I'm not sure why, but I guess that's good.

I'll check in when I get back from dinner later this evening. Prayers for all who need them.
Blessings, Jennifer

I started reading your post and was thinking... "Girl, don't you have a Monday-Friday job?"  Not that you don't deserve some time off now and then.

Thanks for stopping by.  Do some exercise for me.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Great post George!  Yep, everyone needs to know the Nigh****chman isn't just a prayer request thread, but also just a place to stop on by and say hi!!!  If all you did was hang out and do nothing, well, that's somethin' so hit that reply button and come on by!!!

Well, it's a GREAT night in my house....(drum roll....)  BOTH my girls made the Varsity Tennis Team!!!!!   YIPPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!  I'm very happy for both of them as they have really worked hard, but even more importantly - I will not have World War 3 going on in the house that I WOULD have had if one had made Varsity and one only made JV.  That would NOT have been a good thing and I think I would have had NO hair by the end of the year!!!  The girls play their first TWO day long tourny next Friday and Saturday at a Fort Bend District meet.  Viktoria WILL end up being ranked higher than her older sister, Heather, but for now....Heather has no problem with that!  Of course the higher you are ranked, the harder kids you play.  Of course the excitement for the 8 boys and 8 girls picked for Varsity was met with disappointment for the others who had hoped to make Varsity and didn't.  I don't care who it is, it's always hard to see a kid be disappointed.  We've been there the past couple years as Heather was on Jr. Varsity for her freshman and sophomore years so we know how disappointed those kids are.  Heather was OF COURSE happy, but one of her closest buddy's only made JV again.  She was very upset.  Paul is on Cloud 9 with the girls (more like 109).  He played a lot of USTA tennis when we lived out in California and plays a lot now so he is excited for them!  Sarah was happy for them, too!  She starts back in with her fall clinics on the 31st.

Needless to say, the Varsity announcement has taken over in the house tonight.  Lots of smiles!  The new coach decided the kiddos can take tomorrow off as it will be their last day of summer vacation so wants them to enjoy it!
