Channel 11/Dr. Barker Says Lapband Is A Bust!
Was jus****ching CBS 11News here and they interviewed a failed LAP-band patient who talked about how she didn't lose a pound with her band during the two years she had it .. Said it only made her throw up .. They then interviewed Dr. Wade Barker, and I thought he would defend the band, since he does do some band surgery .. Surprisingly, he instead admitted that the band was not for some patients (he seemed to give the impression that these were patients with eating disorders) and that he highly advises those patients get RNY instead ...
Turns out the patient in the interview did later had a revision to an RNY and apparently did very well with it ..
No link yet, but if you go to theCBS 11 website they probably have a copy of the interview on there .. Not sure what the purpose of the story was -- to scare prospects off from the band?

You, as well as I, KNOW of people from ALL surgery types that haven't had as much success as others and that HAVE regained some weight, some small regains others larger regains.
Before you make comments like this, you might look in the mirror at yourself and your success, and quit being so judgemental.

No telling how many people that needed WLS were scared off from their prospective surgery at the last second because of this pro-RNY bashing by a WLS surgeon, complete with "testimonial" from a former band patient who apparently didn't or couldn't adhere to the band diet protocol (sorry Stephanie - didn't know it was you at the time ) .. (and yes, if you watch it, that's basically what they're doing) .. And no, RNY is not for everyone more than any other WLS is ..
Dr. B. just slipped down a notch, IMHO .. Sorry if that offends anyone ..

PAUL-no doubt you waited a month to respond, in the hopes no one would see your ill-informed post. I wouldn't have seen it, if hadn't come to my email. I shouldn't bother taking the time to respond, but...well..somehow I still think there is a decent human being inside you somewhere. every once in awhile you let a glimse of that person shine through-a person with a really keen sense of humor-someone people would really like to get to know to know-and let you go and post poison like THIS again.
Do you even KNOW Dr. Barker? Have you ever met him? Talked to him? Why do you give a rat's ass what he says or does? I'm pretty sure he isn't losing any sleep-or money-over "slipping down a notch" in your book.
As for STEPHANIE as her experience with the band and as to "a former band patient who apparently didn't or couldn't adhere to the band diet protocal"..well..obviously you do NOT know S and did not pay ANY attention to the interview.
The ONE thing we can all agree on is that there is no ONE WLS surgery for EVERYONE. I don't think anyone will argue that point.
I would love to have an IRL conversation with you, but you always seem to run from me. I'm beginning to take it personally. I'll be looking for you in Dallas. I look just like my avatar pics-can't miss me.
