Dee CONGRATULATIONS !!!! Lets see....10 days post op....yep it IS DOABLE !!! LOL That is......if you are feeling up to it. It will be hard though. You will probably still be either on a liquid diet or mushy stuff then. Hmmmmm......you wait and see how you feel. We WILL all forgive you this time if you miss it although we will ALL be so dissapointed to not have met you and gave you a HUGE HUG !!!!

Thanks, Everyone! Vivian...I figure the conference will be the best place for me. I'll be surrounded by folks who know more than I do about this stuff and my Dr. Garth will be there if I need him! I don't know what the schedule there will be but if I get tired I can always go to my room to rest. I'll pack my Magic Bullet, broth and hope the 'fridge in the room has a freezer for some SF popcicles!

Dee....I am so glad that you are still planning on coming and you are SO RIGHT !!! We wil smother you with TLC !!!! Just try to come down here in a van and have someone else drive so that you can lay down and rest. Seems like right after my RNY I did LOTS OF RESTING !!!! We can all take turns making you walk and sip and walk and sip. LOL I am sure Dr. Garth will see to all that too !!!! Can't wait to give you a gentle hug !!!

Yea!! Congrats!! My surgery was September 17th of last year with Dr. Garth. Look at my pictures to see how far I have come in my 11 months. Just pray there is not a hurricane (my surgery was 5 days post-Ike).

I know we're not supposed to compare ourselves to others blah blah blah but DAYUM! My next dive trip to Honduras is in June 2010, 9 months from surgery...I want to look like you in a wetsuit!

Yeah, you will be in great hands if you are up to the trip !!! Your buds will be there to support you, a room to rest in if you get too tired and your surgeon there if anything happens! I will drive - no problemo!!!!

And you will be surprised what Dr. Garth allows by 10 days - he progresses you faster than a lot of surgeons. If I remember correctly you will already be on mushies - not just liquids - so that makes it easier.

Yay!!! I won't lie, you'll probably be tired, but as long as you're mostly sitting, you'll probably be fine. I've spent most of this week sitting or lying down when I haven't been walking. It's very boring. I intend to mail my check for the room on Wednesday, while I'm out for my first follow-up appointment. I'm currently a shut-in with no energy to do anything, much less drive.
