Hi everyone.....I met with Dr Alexander ,last week...for a revision from old VBG in 1999, to a RNY...If anyone wants to PM, still very interested in any opinions that may have visited the 3 Dr.'s Alexander, Barker, Davidson....I know peoples opinions sometimes start wars on the boards..just PM me,   really want HONEST asessments of the top docs in Dallas, Don't anyone to feel uncomfortable divulging .
**

So I met with Dr Alexander, he was very likeable, but I feel like I should visit other top docs...

Q: interesting, from what i can tell..not all perform the sleep apnea test..Barker does, Alexander does not, don't know about Davison yet...ANY OPINIONS on that ? Also all don't do EKG..

Q: So it seems Dr Alexander has his own Alexander technique developed in 92, and states that his patients have less vomit, loose bowels, and can eat pretty normal >>>>> ANY OPINIONS on this for those of you that have had RNY performed by Dr A ? aftercare comments?

Same for Dr B?

Hello.

Dr. Alexander does not require a sleep test. Of course he ask all the questions pertaining to sleep apnea, so one has to be very honest if indeed they feel sleep apnea may be an issue.

Dr. A does require pre-op which I completed on yesterday. My date is Aug 19th. My pre-op was urine, numerous syringes of blood...sigh I'm a hard stick, EKG and a complete chest X-ray.  The RN at the hospital interviews you also, and ask a lot of medical questions, again about the sleep apnea and previous surgery issues. My EKG was fine, if my blood work and chest x-ray are ok, then upward an onward on Wednesday.
I believe in him completely, and adore his willingness to help and answer questions.  He never makes me feel like a failure.  I mean 484 down to 240 is a lost of weight lost in under 2 years. While I maintained it for awhile, I need the revison to finish this weight loss thing. I was 279 on yesterday, so 39 lbs gained over a 5 yr period is not shabby, but I'm still obese...bottom line.

I haven't used these doctors as I'm not from the Dallas area but have heard really good things about all.

As for the sleep apnea, my surgeon in Houston didn't require I have a sleep study based on our conservations.....I had no symptoms of apnea.    I was required to have an EKG.

My suggestion is interview all three, ask your questions, find out their success rate, complication rate, mortalities, etc. then choose the doctor you feel most comfortable with.  Be sure you ask about aftercare too, which is VERY important.

I will PM you.  Dr. A was my surgeon.  I'll say this....and how weird that I found this out on the board....I don't dump, no problem with loose bowels and I can eat very normal things but that might come back to bite you.  If I ate all the things I could, I wouldn't be where I am.  I guess it's good to know why all of this happened regarding my surgery huh?

I do know Dr. Provost too.  He's been around since the very beginning and yet he's still young enough to keep sharp!  I'd jump for Dr. Provost in a split second.  And I love that Dr. Nick didn't do something he wasn't comfortable with.

I have used Dr. Davidson for both my son and I. Now if I would take my 18yr old to a doctor, you know that I liked him. He is a very good surgeon,
Best Wishes
