~~HELP~~Dr Alexander/Dr Barker/Dr Davidson
**
So I met with Dr Alexander, he was very likeable, but I feel like I should visit other top docs...
Q: interesting, from what i can tell..not all perform the sleep apnea test..Barker does, Alexander does not, don't know about Davison yet...ANY OPINIONS on that ? Also all don't do EKG..
Q: So it seems Dr Alexander has his own Alexander technique developed in 92, and states that his patients have less vomit, loose bowels, and can eat pretty normal >>>>> ANY OPINIONS on this for those of you that have had RNY performed by Dr A ? aftercare comments?
Same for Dr B?
Dr. Alexander does not require a sleep test. Of course he ask all the questions pertaining to sleep apnea, so one has to be very honest if indeed they feel sleep apnea may be an issue.
Dr. A does require pre-op which I completed on yesterday. My date is Aug 19th. My pre-op was urine, numerous syringes of blood...sigh I'm a hard stick, EKG and a complete chest X-ray. The RN at the hospital interviews you also, and ask a lot of medical questions, again about the sleep apnea and previous surgery issues. My EKG was fine, if my blood work and chest x-ray are ok, then upward an onward on Wednesday.
I believe in him completely, and adore his willingness to help and answer questions. He never makes me feel like a failure. I mean 484 down to 240 is a lost of weight lost in under 2 years. While I maintained it for awhile, I need the revison to finish this weight loss thing. I was 279 on yesterday, so 39 lbs gained over a 5 yr period is not shabby, but I'm still obese...bottom line.
As for the sleep apnea, my surgeon in Houston didn't require I have a sleep study based on our conservations.....I had no symptoms of apnea. I was required to have an EKG.
My suggestion is interview all three, ask your questions, find out their success rate, complication rate, mortalities, etc. then choose the doctor you feel most comfortable with. Be sure you ask about aftercare too, which is VERY important.
