How Can I Make This Scale MOVE?

I started out at 256 on the day of my RNY. That was April 30. Today is 3 1/2 months later and I am only 207. Blah. My scale kept giving me the run around and I roughly decided my weight was 204 since it kept going back to 204. I was okay with that thinking ONDERLAND was close. Well, I bought a new Tanita and I am 207.2. Blah. The problem is I seem to lose every 2 weeks. I stall for 2 weeks then I lose for 2 weeks. The weight loss is REALLY slow. I have increased my protein and I get over 70g a day. I have been eating eggs & salsa for breakfast, or something of the liking, then usually chicken salad for lunch, I snack on high protein/low fat foods or snacks in between, then dinner is usually a piece of meat or chicken with veggies for dinner. Sometimes a salad w/ meat or chicken. Everything I eat is low fat, low carb, and high protein. I don't know why I am not losing much. I have not lost in over 2 weeks again. Any suggestions? I do take my vitamins and I do get in all my water and then some. Am I doing something wrong?

First of all...... 50 pounds in 3 1/2 months is AWESOME!

Sounds like you are right on track with what you are doing.  Our bodies lose at the rate they want to sometimes no matter what we do.  Just know that IT.WILL.COME.OFF if you keep sticking to your program !!!  I didn't lose much from months 9-11 - really slowed down like everyone said, so I was expecting it.  After my 1-year surgiversary I started losing again - like a pound a week - and I am not doing anything different, so go figure.  I thought I was finished losing weight!

My only suggestion would be to add a protein shake.  70 grams is minimum and I know it is adding more calories, but I have seen it work with others.

Are you doing any exercise?  Even a modest increase will boost your metabolism and you can do it at home with a DVD - don't have to spend money on a gym membership.

Sorry about the extra "gain" with the Tanita but it really is an excellent scale and you will be able to accurately track your weight from now on.

I do drink protein drinks. My fav is the EAS Carb Control Cafe Caramel. I drink 2 a day because they are 17g of protein. I usually have one before breakfast and one before lunch or as an afternoon "snack". It is a great way to have my protein & Coffee! LOL. For exercise I walk with my kids. I purchased a nice jogging stroller and I walk the mall or stores (since it is way too hot outside), but I do walk. I had an exercise bike, it was great, I was doing 7/10 miles a day, but I had to get rid of it because my little one kept climbing on it no matter where I put it and split his head open. It had to go.... we are moving in a month , my husband is getting a new duty station, and we hope to get a bigger place next time so we can find room for more exercise equipment because he wants a gym. For now, walking is my thing. I try to do it a few times a week and we walk for a good hour or so. I couldn't tell you how far I walked because I do not have a pedometer. I probably should buy one. But I do walk fast.
Well, I am glad to hear it is nothing I am doing. I am just so afraid of not doing well. I know it is hard to do... but I went to the forums for my surgery month and the one before it in March, and everyone is down 70-100lbs already and I am not even close. I know it is horrible to compare, but I am just paranoid. & I am trying so hard. Anxious for better results!

I got a pedometer at wally world for like 6 buks!  It sounds like you are doing it right, I have resigned myself to the fact my body is crankier and loses in spurts. I will say this get your measurements, while the scale is a EVIL thing, the tape measure can be your friend.

What about the gym on post? can you go there for workouts? They have several here at Sill that the spouses can use during non~PT hours.

Thanks. I am going to try. I didn't realize they had daycare until Danni mentioned it. I did not join earlier because 1st- I know nothing about working out, and 2nd, I had no sitter for the kids (one who was still breastfeeding until a few months ago). But I am going to check it out. I am going to buy a pedometer too... I DO do a lot of walking. I see you lost 57lbs, I am close. I am down 51 since surgery so I am close to you and our surgeries were a few days apart.
Im just sooooo scared of "FAILING" ... I thought those feelings were over, but everytime I stall, I think it is because I am doing something wrong and I FREAK out. I hit a 2 week stall every month. UGGH.

I think most people think they will be at 100lb loss in the first few months when they start this journey. They don't realizing that the people who put up those kind of numbers are the ones who have much more to lose. I look at his as WOW! I have lost 57 pounds and never in my life have I lost this amount in the short of a time. "FAIL" should not even be in your vocabulary until you are 18 months out. Give yourself TIME to take the weight off, it didn't magically appear in 3 months, and it wont disappear in 3 months either!

It's a JOURNEY, not a TRIP... Relax and enjoy the ride.

Keep up the good work your doing GREAT!!

THANK YOU! I needed the encouragement. I hope to lose 100lbs in a year, it does not have to be in a few months, but these stalls really mess with my head. I looked at my records, and I have not lost a pound in 3 1/2 weeks. That is hard. I am trying really hard. I keep thinking I am doing something wrong.

You are doing FINE girl!

Your ticker shows 109 pounds to lose for your goal - you didn't expect to lose that in 4 months did you?    The folks who lose that much that quickly have much more to lose than you do.

I started at 248, so not much less than you and I looked back at my weight records and noticed I hit 50 pounds lost at around 3 1/2 months - same as you.  I was at 150.2 this morning, so almost to my goal in 13 months.  I would like to lose about 5 more pounds and maintain my weight between 145-150 to allow for normal fluctuations.  I thought of myself as one who would never get there - only "others" did that LOL.  And yet, here I am 13 months and I am close enough to know I will make it.  And YOU WILL TOO !!!
