Travel Foods

I need a little help from my friends.

I travel a lot with work, typically air travel is involved.  I need to take something to eat on long trips that will not be confescated by TSA.  Suggestions?  I have not yet tried eating nuts since I am only 5 weeks out.  I do have some cheese and crackers - not the best choice, but if I only eat a couple it is certainly better than no food. I have also considered taking dry BA shake mix to add to water once I am inside of security.

Thanks for the tips!

I used to always pre-measure out protein powder in snack size baggies and then add it to a bottle of water once I was through security. String cheese and beef jerky travel well, too once you're a little further out.

If you're checking your bag, the Profect or New Whey protein bullets are convenient to pack. You can fit about 9 of them in a gallon sized Ziploc (as extra protection although I never had one break in my bag and I used to do about 40 trips/year).

Deli meat rolls, or wraps with deli meat and cheese, single serve cottage cheese, string cheese.  I travel alot too, and usually just buy something at the airport and can always find something that suits me. But since I don't like eating out for every single meal when I a on the road, I usually hit the grocery for these staples to load up my mini-fridge after I arrive in my destination.  If your room doesn't have one, ask for it, they all have them available.

Safe travels.

If you like the ready to drink protein drinks and want to take them with you, you can get your doc to give you a note for special dietary needs and with the note you can take this stuff through security if you "claim" it.  I do that for meds sometimes because I carry a cooler and the ice packs are "illegal".

Thanks ladies.  I always go to the store when I'm on week long trip.  This is one of those really quick trips out.  Two nights in two different hotels...but I never leave home without my blender ball!

I haven't tried many of the RTD shakes.  I tried Atkins...make me feel queezy.  Do you have some that you are able to get local?  I love shopping on the internet, but want to avoid getting a case of something I can't drink.. I have lots of protein samples and the odd thing is most of them I can't stomach!  Nectar...nasty stuff..I think it was because it smelled bad and after that I couldn't even taste it.  I was so glad I didn't buy the large bucket size container!

Calorie content is high (made with fruit juice), but Naked Juice makes a pre-made, ready to drink shake with protein and it's high in protein.  I find them at Wal-Mart's when traveling and needing more protein.  Don't do this very often anymore, but early out had to as eating was difficult.  Now, I pack protein bars in my computer bag and have no problems.  I particuarly like the Oh Yeah bars...

Good luck!

I takea soft sided cooler every time I travel.  I pack some snacks for the airport/plane and once I arrive I stop at any convenience store or local grocery and pick up a couple of things for my stay.  Skim milk, yogurt, string cheese, deli meats and even boiled eggs are available at 7eleven now.

On the same line of thought-I am going to Nice,France in a few weeks.
I plan to just do carry on-I hate to take the huge bottles of viatmins.
I have been told not to just put the different pills in baggies that
they need to be in the original bottles. Anyone had experience
with getting through customs with the mega-vitamins we now take?
I thought about just not taking them for a week but I am so compulsive
about the vitamins.
