I have a desk job, so I do too much sitting. I call it carpel butt syndrom.  The last two weeks it has hurt to sit for a long period of time.  I know this is common, but this soon?

I'm going to look for a lumbar type pillow this weekend and see if that helps.

I noticed it about 3 months out but then I started getting used to it, I guess because it really only bothers me now when I sit on something hard for a really long time, like the bleachers at a 3 hours ballgame.   I think I cross my legs alot now, too, which moves the weight from one hip to the other.  That's new for me....the crossing legs part.

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date.                                        Current as of November 1, 2009

And as far as I can tell, it never goes away. I call it "hurty butt" and I have it after road trips to Dallas (which are frequent right now since I'm in the process of moving.)

Yep, that was me...Im always referring to how "normal" Im starting to feel and "normal" things I do.  People look at me weird. They must be thinking "Well how ABNORMAL was she?".....

Keep up the great work!

What Meggie said, and LOL @ "carpal butt syndrome" .

This is a common phenonmenon a few months out from WLS, and I have read it explained that it is due to the lack of "cushion" (i.e. fat) that we had in that area before, which causes the nerves in that area (i.e. the "tailbone") to be unduly sensitive to presure for awhile, like a form of neuralgia ..  Eventually the nerves with "adjust" / toughen up (for want of a more scientific explanation) in that area ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Yes, that;s my mantra...except I use the A word instead of butt.  I have a butt pillow that i take in the car, its just a squishy pillow.  I haven't gotten a donut pillow yet.  I do cross my legs alot these days, and that was an amazing occurrence the first time it happened.  WOOHOO even.  It helps to shift the weight from one butt cheek to the other.  I know that I must say out loud at least 20 times a day, "MY A$$ hurts!"  It motivates me to get up off of it and do something more often than not.
