New Choice For Post-Surgical Pain Relief....Not Just For WLS....Check It Out!
I just found out about this and wanted to share. Are you, your family member or friends having surgery? Not just WLS....C-Section....Gallbladder.....knee surgery, ect.
There is a new choice for Post-Surgical Pain Relief. It is a local anesthetic without all the side effects such as nausea, drowsiness, constipation among others. Check with your surgeon to see if you might be a candidate.

Wow, there have been so many advancements, I wish this was around when I was having all the redundant skin removed!
Take care,
Ginger

This is not NEW-it's been around for years. I had it with my RNY (didn't work at all) and also with my plastics (it worked great). It's very expensive and not always covered by insurance. I believe my charge was $1500. I'm a RN and we don't use it at all for c-sections cuz there are much better options out there.

I don't know if there has been any changes in it or not since it first came out....I just heard about it when rep came around this week....(he said it might not be covered by ins. but would cost about $200.00) and thought it was worth letting people know about. I had a lot of problems with the side effects from the narcotics I took after my multiple surgeries for redundant skin removal and would have loved to have tried this. Also my Dad is having knee surgery next week and had problems with the narcotics and I told my Mom to ask his surgeon if he could use this.
Every ones experiences are different and if there is something that can help people go through surgery easier I am all for it. And sometimes surgeons don't give patients all the options to control the pain and I thought there might be people out there that had not heard about it like me.
It is to bad we can't just go to sleep and wake up with no pain at all....but with all the advancement since I had WLS 8 1/2 years ago and being opened (stitches, staples and brackets to keep me together)....being done laparoscopically is so much better....who know one day it might be possible to have surgery with no pain. I hope so!
