Disappointed
The Drs office finally got the last of my paperwork faxed to them yesterday so now the wait for it to be filed and approved starts. The disappointment is there's no way I can get my surgery this month like I was told. Even if the approval comes through, Dr. Garth will be gone for the month of Sept. His schedule is so busy they're already booking into November. NOVEMBER for Pete's sake!!! My only hope is for a cancellation. But I've decided there's a good side to this....I'll have 2 extra months to lose a bit more weight, more time to learn even more...especially about vitamins. Maybe I can really get a start on this exercise thing! I'll have no problems at all attending the OH conference in Sept! And I really believe that all things happen for a reason and I've learned not to question it. As DH says...it is what it is...but he's as disappointed as I am. Dinner tonight was very quiet.
So fair warning....I'm still full of questions for all of you old timers!!!

I can completely relate. My surgery was postponed from 7/25/2005 to 11/15/2005. It actually worked out for the best as my grandmother died on 7/26 and if I'd had surgery on my original date, there's no way I could've traveled 1400 miles for the funeral. It was disappointing at the time, but now that I'm so far post-op, it's something I only think about when someone else has a postponement.
Blessings, Jennifer

If I were lying, wouldn't my pants be on fire?!?

I know you are disappointed, but looks like you are thinking of it in a positive way. More time to drop some more pounds of which you are doing amazing!! You are making your surgery easier on yourself, and making Dr Garth's job easier. Keep on rocking it Dee, you are doing great! Hope to get to meet you in Sept!
Blessings,
Avis
Oh man...he IS busy! Hmm, guess I need to get my rear in gear and make my annual lab work appt. here soon. I usually do it end September!
Like you say, things DO happen for a reason even though we are a "NOW" society. My surgery was initially bumped back too for a family emergency but as disappointed as I was at first, I knew family came first and of course I could wait. I guess I figured I had waited months, what was another three or so weeks!!!
Hang in there!!!

Good for you! My surgery with Garth was last year on September 17th (4 days after hurricane Ike hit us). A year from now you will be a completely different person.

Dee, I'm a firm believer in thinking that things happen for a reason. At least you have a great attitude about it!
Use the time to start working out - slowly, perhaps walking at the mall or start working with very light weights at home
Start on a vitamin regimin to give your body a boost
Sample different protein shakes and find one now that you like
In the end, you'll be grateful to have had time to get a jump start rather than waiting until surgery to do it!
For me, I actually joined WW 2 months before surgery to try and get a little more weight off before hand. It was good - because while I didn't lose much, I didn't gain anything either and that was positive.
Good luck!
