paying people
So....long story short, my insurance doesn't do pre-approval. Been working on getting approved and doing my pre-surgery requirements since October. My surgeon's office decided to go ahead and schedule the surgery for August 13th. :-) I've done all of my testing and pre-admittance stuff for the hospital and my surgeon's office.
Anyway, along with that, I had to pay my surgeon's office, up front, $400 (20% of their fee--my portion) before the surgery. I don't know if that's standard or not or if it's because they're worried my insurance won't pay it, even though I'm covered for the surgery, but because they won't give pre-approval, they're not sure. My question....did anyone have to do this? And did anyone have to pay the hopsital up front? I'm worried about having to pay the hopsital before the surgery, which is NEXT WEEK, and not knowing about it until the day of or something. I won't have my portion of my OOP + Deductible until September because I'm using some extra grant/loan money from my Fall courses to pay for it. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
I'm having RNY and I'm soooo excited! I'm ready and then not ready all at the same time. I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and my very supportive husband has decided to go ahead and do it with me. And I'm using Baylor in Dallas and very confident in my choices.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice. Best of luck to everyone!!
If I were you, I'd call the hospital and find out what you'll be required to pay before your surgery so you aren't caught off guard.
