I LOVE MY PREEMIES!
You're welcome.
For some, it's a *hard* lesson to learn but you will SLOW DOWN your weight loss if you do NOT EAT ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!
If you're having problems getting the calories in, your weight loss will likely increase as soon as you increase your caloric intake.
The only way I could do this was by drinking a high calorie liquid. Before I lived in TX and HEB's Mootopia, I drank CarbCountdown. I drank 1/2 gallon every day so I could get calories in. I STILL drink 1/2 gallon per day only I drink Mootopia (which is so much better on so many levels -- especially the lactose free portion). So, just in liquids, I get 800+ calories and 96 grams of protein. I suspect I would die if I didn't do this! LOL
I'm serious! If you're not getting in the caloric intake needed, once you get it up, you'll lose faster.
I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

I LOVE MY PREEMIES!
I'm almost 3 years post op. I weighed 300 pounds when I had my consult. I lost 25 pounds on the pre-op diet. I lost an additional 100 pounds post-op and I have re-gained 15 pounds.
I had my surgery at Innova Hospital, at that time it only had 4 beds. I had complications from surgery and ended up staying in the hospital for 5 days. I was the only patient in the hospital on Saturday and Sunday. That was weird. The first time they got me out of bed I passed out. Thank God the nurse was a big guy and he caught me when I went down. I'm allergic to most pain medications and woke up with dry heaves. Then they had trouble getting my blood pressure to stabilize. I had to have 3 transfusions while I was in the hospital. I won't lie to you, it was tough. That was the only time I have had any regrets. My husband says I kept telling him that I should not have had the surgery. I was so out of it that I don't remember.
Since then, it truly has not been that hard. The worst thing that has happened to me since surgery was on Halloween, which was about a month after surgery. I ate a serving of something my husband calls "meat-loaf pizza" and became violently ill. I barfed so hard and so long that it ruptured blood vessels in my face and blacked both of my eyes. Seriously, I looked like someone had punched me. (It was kind of fun when the Jehovah's Witness ladies rang my doorbell that week and saw my black eyes.) I still don't eat very much ground beef. It's just hard for me to keep down.
Now I can eat almost anything I want. I follow the two-bite rule. I can have two-bites of anything and be satisfied with that. I have actually learned to cook. That way I can control what is in my food. I follow a plan that is very similar to the South Beach Diet Plan. I eat every 2-3 hours and stick to high protein, low carb diet. I eat fresh as much as possible. I don't buy canned vegetables at all, except for corn and beans, which I eat sparingly, only if they're part of a recipe.
Most of my weight came off the first year. I don't really know how it came off, because I didn't own a scale. I only weighed at the doctor's office. I did measure once a month or so. I found that more motivational.
You should know that there is definitely a honeymoon period. You need to work hard the first year to get all the weight off. It gets harder after that. I'm to the point now where I have to work hard to keep my weight under control. But, I have the tool to do it. The difference for me is that, before surgery, I never believed I could lose the weight and keep it off. After surgery, I know I can.
As for me, no regrets. It's the best thing I ever did for me. I still have to work at it every day. But I think that's a good thing. It cause me to focus on me. Something I never did before.
I will never quit. I persevere and thrive on adversity... If knocked down, I will get back up, every time. – U.S. Navy SEALs
