I am a patient of Dr Alexander and I know his staff.  Are you sure you hit enter.  I have had 2 friends that recently went to his website and within 24 hours have been contacted,  His staff have been good to work with.

You know people on this board use him and it is really frustrating to hear people bad mouth their Drs.

Sorry you have not gotten the attention you expected from Dr. Alexander.  His office got back to me fairly quickly via email and telephone when I went to him.  He has gotten much busier and I do have to call more than once sometimes if I need something.  However, he is worth the trouble very experienced and one of DFW's Top Docs.  Good luck let us know who you decide to go with.

1)  Maybe your reputation as a doctor-slamming non-compliant a-hole has preceeded you -- maybe someone already clued those doctors in with links to your posts here and other places.

2) Nobody EVER said it was impossible to gain weight with a DS -- however, YOUR continual postings about the monstrous quantities of carb-laden crap you shovel down your piehole, your ENDLESS postings about your resulting farting up of public places (not only shamelessly, but CROWING and GIGGLING about it like a 13 year old) and ****ting yourself because you refuse to control what you eat have earned you the responses you ALWAYS get when you trot out your "woe is me, the DS failed me" crap.

Do the Texans not know this about you?

DC, unless you're planning on moving to Texas (God forbid) please don't post here ..  I'll consider it stalking and harrassment ..    Same for the Men's Forum ..  (unless there's maybe something ELSE we don't know about you  )

And no, I can assure you I was not "crowing and giggling"  today (if I ever WAS) ..   In fact I left my office very angry and humiliated yet again early this afternoon, after overhearing an office worker almost constantly spraying air freshener around the place,  in spite of having a Glade candle burning in my office  ..   I will not continue to put up with that kind of crap and having to fear every little bite I eat b/c it might end up "offending" someone's delicate sensitivities afterward  ...  Having to live on black-market veterinary antibiotics - risking a super-infection the whole time  - for the same reason  .   This damn surgery has made a leper out of me and I would NOT recommend it  to anyone anymore,  even to YOU ..

(and as to #1, as much as you may like to think so, not possible, since I use my real name and office contact info with them ..  Try to use your intelligence like someone else with your academic achievements, once in awhile  ) ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Paul,

I'm writing to you again, about this same subject, AGAIN.  (Did I say Again?)  Okay, I'm going to try to NOT be mean.  I'm going to be straight forward and HOPE that this time the information will sink into your brain.  I KNOW YOU ARE SMART.  I know that you will see this.  I know that this will be 100% ENGLISH, so I hope that this time will be the last.

Okay, you got the DS.  You came near to goal, but not quite.  You are a statistical success, but I can completely understand why you would want to get a revision to your sleeve to lose the rest of your weight and move on.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUFFER ANYMORE, PAUL.  PLEASE put the carbs down.  This means eating burgers with a knife and a fork instead of a bun, opening a burrito and treating the tortilla like a plate instead of eating it as part of the meal, asking servers NOT to bring bread to the table so there is no temptation, avoid ALL white flour products (even the ones that say ENRICHED wheat are bad).  You may also need to get rid of dairy products to see if that is what is causing you to feel like a leper as you say.  If you don't try this now, you need to try it after your revision.  You have GOT to want your life back.  You have got to not want to be a complete social outcast.  I know this must be very hard.  BUT YOU ARE DOING THIS TO YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You say it's "dehumanizing" to eat burgers without buns and to eat tacos without taco shells....really?  I would think it'd be a HELLUVA lot more dehumanizing to be walking around like a smelly leper.  You have to find your trigger foods Paul, it's not rocket science, it's the process of elimination.  You have to find out what is giving you gas.  I'd be lying if I told you that I have NO gas, but when I am careful to avoid trigger foods (which is daily by the way), I maybe fart 4-5 times a day.  REALLY!  If I ate the foods that you have said that you eat, I truly think my husband would divorce me just to have separate houses, for the sake of the kids if nothing else.  My God Paul, if I ate a spaghetti dinner AND garlic bread I'd want to surgically remove my ass from my body just to get away from the stench.  THE ONLY pasta I have eaten in the past 2 years has been 100% WHOLE WHEAT pasta.  The only garlic bread that has passed my lips has been 100% whole wheat bread brushed with butter and sprinkled with garlic powder and seasonings.  (See, I have adapted my foods to the surgery we have, again, not rocket science).  You have got to change your mindset.  YES you have the DS, yes it's forgiving, but it is not a free for all.  WE HAVE RULES TOO!!!  You have to see this by now.

There are SO many foods that you can eat still.  You may need to explore the idea that you are gluten intolerant if 100% whole wheat bothers your system as well.  If I were you, I'd get the revision, be on liquids for whatever amount of time the doc tells you to be, and then add ONE protein food into your diet per day.  No gas that day means you GET to add that food to your "allowed foods" list.  Next day you can eat the food that worked the day before plus ONE new one.  No gas means that you now have TWO foods that are on the allowed list.  Continue this process until you find your triggers.  If it makes you have gas, put it in the NOT TO BE EATEN category and avoid that food for a few months.  You MAY be able to have that food in the future, maybe not.  You have to go out and make this work Paul.  You can't take the surgery back, but you CAN take control.  I want you to know that for whatever reason, I feel for you and I want to help you.  You make me want to pull my hair out sometimes, but I think there's a way for you to live a NORMAL life again.  BUT ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Please take this post in the nature it was intended.  I want to help you, but I cannot do this for you.  I already expect that you won't reply as you never do reply to my posts.....but I really do wish you the best.

Sincerely,

Lori

Excellent post Lori.  I dont' find it mean natured at all, I can tell from your tone of voice you do care and hope he takes control of his personal situation.

You've done well Lori on pointing out different things to help Paul and I'm sure others that may be struggling but aren't wanting to post on the board.

I really believe that Paul is a well-meaning person, though I don't agree with some/many of the things he posts about.  He's been vocal about many things from gay people to prejudice remarks that make me sick to my stomach.  I try to wear blinders and focus ONLY on his need for help with the DS.  Just because he can be an ass about social things doesn't mean he doesn't need help with his surgery.  I KNOW the man is smart, but I feel like my comments fall on deaf ears.  I try to remind myself that if I'm not helping Paul that maybe I'll help someone else.  The DS isn't a free-for-all.  I CAN eat ANYTHING I want to, I have always been able to eat what I want.  It's the end result of some foods that make some foods just not worth it.  If I was walking around with a cloud surrounding me like Pigpen from Peanuts, I'd eat nothing but boiled chicken breast with salt day in and day out to avoid what he seems to say is the stench that surrounds him.  However, Paul constantly posts about eating spaghetti dinners, eating biscuits from fried chicken places, drinking Hawaiian Punch and not making it to the bathroom in time, and recently said that he REFUSED to eat a burger without a bun, or a taco without the shell because it's DEHUMANIZING.  I dunno, I just wish Paul could see that the things he posts just make all of us shake our heads in amazement.  I'm still trying to not be mean, but sometimes it's just so hard with this man.
