BCBS if TX.....who to talk to about approval?
Hopefully my paperwork will be sent in this week. I want to keep tabs on the approval and was wondering if any of you knew if I should ask to speak to a specific department or person. Up to now when I had a question about anything I just called customer service and they've alwasy been able to help me, although it has required me to repeat my history of the subject several times. I'd like to avoid that this time as well as hopefully getting more accurate info by speaking to the same person at each phone call.
Any ideas are appreciated! I plan to pester the fire out of everyone until I get my date! LOL!

I have CIGNA, but Dr. Davis' office is really on top of this. They found out within a week from my insurance that I was approved and let me know even before I got my approval letter.

Deedles,
I have no information to offer but wanted to wish you luck. I have BCBS - TRS Active Care and was approved in 4 days after submission. I owe it to NeWeigh because they were so meticulous in creating a paper trail that could not be denied. I had surgery scheduled for a week after approval and they have been pretty good to me since. I even have someone from a health agency that BCBS contracts with who calls each month to check on me. I mentioned that I had HBP prior to surgery and so they sent me a special blood pressure kit. BCBS kindly picked up the $148.00 tab for that, too. She called last Thursday to see if there was anything I needed. Sadly, the things I mentioned she could not help with...new wardrobe, money for two daughters' braces, tuition money. Maybe I will mention next month that I would really like to have a treadmill and see what happens!
Good luck!

Paul....thanks for the reality check! I think I've been reading too much on here about peoples problems with getting approved that I'm loaded for bear just in case. I really am not usually one of those wo automatically 'throw down and go at it"! Just the opposite, I go with the flow. The anticipation and excitement is getting to me!
So I'm taking your excellent advice and will give everyone up the chain the chance to do their jobs. I hope to have a long association with Dr. Garth's office and want to be on the right foot with them.

Dee, I have BCBS but not sure if it is TX since we are self-insured and only use BCBS to process claims. It may be BCBS of Illinois since our North American office is in Chicago.
I waited a little over a week to call BCBS just to make sure they had received my paperwork from Dr. Davis' office, figuring it would take 2-3 weeks for approval. I nearly dropped the phone when they said I had been approved! I asked her to repeat that in case I heard it wrong LOL
Since I just happened to catch them right at the time I was approved, I had to wait a few days for them to get the approval letter over to Dr. Davis' office so I could get a surgery date scheduled but at that point I was so happy I didn't mind the wait.

I have BCBS TRS and it took the whole 30 days to get approved. At about 3 weeks I called and just said I needed to talk to someone to see if my surgery was approved and I don't remember who they connected me with. That was when I found out it was still in review and was told to call back the next week. I did call back and they lady told me right there on the phone I was approved. But BCBS for me wasn't like many of the companies. They will take their time. Just be patient. I am a firm believe in God does things on his time and we have to give him the control. Good luck. Keep us posted on the progress.
