Toll Road Amnesty Program
Toll violators on Texas Department of Transportation turnpikes will be forgiven up to 90 percent of nonpayment fees if they pay the overdue tolls and sign up for electronic toll tags, under an amnesty program approved today by the Texas Transportation Commission.
By offering to forego payment of the lion's share of $58.4 million owed in late fees, TxDOT hopes to collect much of the $3.2 million in unpaid tolls. But officials said today that there hasn't been a comparable program on other Texas toll roads, so they couldn't predict what percentage of scofflaws might be enticed to pay up by the offer.
The amnesty applies to four toll roads in Central Texas and one in Tyler.
Gee - what a great return - 3.2 million INSTEAD of the owed 58.4 million. I always thought toll roads were a stupid idea and I still think they are. But, if I was a person who drove on one of the 5 toll roads this applies to - I would be FURIOUS.
I'm so glad I paid all my tolls over the years and the scumbag criminals that ran them can get off scott free!!! Seriously it's time to revolt, I'm so sick and tired of being one of the FEW law-abiding citizens that tries to do things right.
