Had labs done...

I had labs done last Friday and got the results back today.  Now mind you, I have never had any problems with sugar, but now for some reason, my blood sugar is high.  Why is that I wonder.  My iron, calcium, cholesterol, etc was all excellent, but high blood sugar.
I am really confused.  Has anybody else ever had this problem?  What would cause it?

Thanks,
DeborahL.

Were you fasting when they drew the blood?  That will make a difference.  If it is high, you might ask your doctor to do a 3 hour glucose tolerance test or redo the labs to make sure there wasn't a mistake.

No I wasn't fasting.  They said the doctor didn't order labs with fasting.  I had just eaten about an hour prior to have labs done.

I will call the dr. tomorrow and see if we need to redo these just in case.

Thanks,
DeborahL.

If you weren't fasting that is why your sugar was high.  Being a diabetic I was always told not to eat or drink after midnight so that they could get a true blood sugar reading.  If you know anyone with a meter maybe they would let you check your sugar just to make sure it's ok.

Deborah, that one requires fasting at least 12 hours.  Don't stress about it if you ate then you'll sugar will be elevated.
