ATTENTION EVERYONE LIVING IN DALLAS !!! BAD STORM APPROACHING !!!
Paul....I think that you should take those concerns to the Garland City Council when they have their next meetings. Oh BTW.....I have a siren a block from my home...sometimes I can barely hear it each month when they test it. So it doesn't really do that much good. That reverse 911 call is good though. Although I was at my sisters tonight earlier and mentioned to her about the 5 AM call....she has a unlisted phone number so she did NOT recieve it. I don't know who should count themself lucky...her or me !!! lol That phone call woke me up...made me worry till I called at heard the message left by the city. I almost would have rather slept !!! Anyway....take it up at the next council meeting or better yet....find out who you can make a complaint to that will get the city doing what it should be doing...to protect the citizens of that city !!! Good luck to you Paul. Hope that Judy continues to improve and will awaken soon.

Thanks, VP .. and yes, I had thought of doing that .. We now have a new mayor and city council rep. for our district since all of that, and maybe they would take action if brought to their attention .. In the meantime, I'm thinking of buying one of those "old-fashioned" weather alert radios and keeping it on all the time (it has a battery back up in case of power failure, btw) .. The siren on the radio blasts one long time whenever an alert is issued, but is otherwise silent. You then turn the radio on to hear the details of the alert from the NWS. The downside is that it does it for ALL local weather alerts, not just tornado warnings ..
btw, on the reverse 911 thing, some cities require that you actually sign up for the program -- they just don't randomly dial everyone with a local phone # .. IIRC, I went to the city's website and "registered" my home phone # there .. Your sister might check that out to make sure she receives calls in the future from her city ...
