ATTENTION EVERYONE LIVING IN DALLAS !!! BAD STORM APPROACHING !!!

Just wanted to warn you guys.....there is a mega storm coming your way.   Got woke up at 5 AM with a call from the city about mega approaching storm.   By the time I got up it started raining really hard that there are tornado warnings with them.   Hope no one gets any damage...really super high winds.    Just wanted you to know about this !!

That was a doozy!  So much lightening! 

Yes very frightening.....especially getting that 5 AM phone call.   UGH  Thanks city NRH !!!   LOL  I guess that could be a "good" thing those phone calls.   BUT I have a thing on my phone that picks up the phone and I don't know "off hand" the number or code I need to get the messages.   SO I had to get up...look the number up and call my messages to see who called that early.   UGH.   Had to get up...hubby could have been in accident or something on way to work.    Needless to say....I see a nap in my future !!!  LOL

did the storm pass? hope everyones okay....

It did pass finally after about a hour or a little longer July.    Then I went back to bed for about 30 minutes till I heard a crash.   UGH.....got up and one of my son's photos had fallen off my hallway wall and bashed into a million ( well...maybe not that much ) pieces.    UGH !!!  What a day.    I am OK other than that and my yard needing despirately mowed !!!

Hope no one suffered any serious damage. PLEASE, PLEASE send the rain our way....We have had NO rain in several months and 6 weeks (with the exception of 2 days) of 100+ degree heat.
There is NO water in our part of the lake and my lawn looks like dirt....

Trust me Lalocaweta....my front lawn was getting pretty brown till all these daily showers started hitting.   The cooler weather is nice but our humidity is as bad as Houston's at the moment.   I wish I could direct some of the rain your direction.    I would surely do that.

We caught some of that storm here in Abilene.
For the past couple of mornings we have received some much needed rain.

We have gotten the rain also.   I am thrilled for that.   Sorry for the fellow Texans that didn't receive any rain....maybe they will get some soon.

Dang, VP ..  Cant we sign up with you for our weather warning network?   

  I can't believe I woke up this morning only to find out after the fact that a tornado warning had been issued for Garland @ 5:30, due to the twister near Midlothian moving NE!       The sirens apparently did not go off here, nor did the city use their reverse 911 call system to notify the citizenry with a recorded warning message.         Me and/or a lot of other Garlanders could have been killed in our beds ..  

   Many years ago I noticed they were not doing any testing of our city warning system, like they are supposed to do at least monthly.   I called someone in the city planning office and was assured that they do test them, but was told that I must not be able to hear the sirens b/c I'm inside when it's done.     I told them that was NUTS ..   Nobody else hears the sirens (I asked), and one of the warning sirens is near my office (back then).   Further, what good is it if sirens cannot be heard indoors?   Later on when I called again and talked to someone else in the department, they confessed they did NOT test the sirens or sometimes blow them even during tornado warnings in the area ..  When asked WHY, they claimed, amazingly, that they did not want the public getting used to hearing the sirens when there was no real danger, (I guess like crying "wolf"?) and therefore only elect to sound them when there is in fact a storm about to hit the city ...    

  What is it going to take to get our town to test the sirens regularly and sound them for any tornado warnings issued for the Garland area by the NWS, a bunch of people to die in a twister here FIRST?
