it is a nice facilty... an older one... but nice... I have not had treatment of any kind there, but my brother has numerous times... as well as several friends.  All received excellent care.

best wishes to you

I had my surgery there.  It isn't a restort hospital like some of them built in the last few years, but it was clean, the staff was nice and knowledgable and I had a private room.  They were kind to my husband and make a bed for him on  a cot so he could stay with me and be comfy.

I'd do surgery there again if my doctor requested it.

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date.                                        Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!

The Dr. that I am looking at using does surgery at several hospitals...here is the list.

Dr Hospital
Mesquite Community
Pinecreek Medical
Vista Hospital
Surgical center of Richardson
Medical center of Mesquite

which of these are nice???  I'm not from the area so I'm unsure of where to go.

I'm betting you're looking at Dr Barker.  Several of those hospital/surgery center options are no longer available.  He has opened a brand new center that he operates in.  However, I had my surgery at Doctor's and had a good experience with the exception of one nurse.  I wrote the hospital afterward and I bet he's no longer there.  You can read all the details on my profile under July '07-I have written about my expereience in great detail.  I would definately have it there again.

I had surgery there with Dr Barker. It was a nice hospital-nurses not overly attentive like they were with Bryan at Dr B's newest hospital Forrest Park- but they were okay. I was there 8 days due to complications so I got a good look at things!

Yes I'm looking at Dr Barker.  I didn't know that he had a new place he was working out of.  Hopefully my insurance will pay no matter where he wants to do surgery.

I suppose I will find out more at my first visit.

I am currently finishing 1 part of my criteria for surgery and then I will go for my visit.

Since I live in Abilene I want to make as few of trips as I have to.

thanks for ya'lls assistance!

Well, feel free to post any questions. I'm sure alot of N Dallas folks can help out- ideas on inexpensive but NICE hotels- not in a bad part of town, etc. And, Forrest Park isn't too far out of your way if you wanted to drive by on your way home and check it out if your insurance does pay and you want to see it.

Hey girl! I was at pinecreek medical center in Dallas and I LOVED IT!!! I did my EDG at the forest park location and it was really nice, but I think I went the first weekend it was opened, so everyone seemed kind of lost. I'm sure its all under control now. I don't know about my insurance covering Forest Park Medical Center... maybe that's why I was left with surgery at Pine Creek. Not too sure... maybe just because my surgery was already scheduled at Pine Creek... Who knows... I liked them both. The nurses at Pine Creek were so nice!! I loved them!!! They were all so helpful and telling me how well I was doing etc. You're going to have an awesome journey with Dr. B! I sure have!!

I had my surgery at Vista Hospital.  I thought they were excellent.  Every person there from the receptionist and deffinately the nurses went out of there way to make me and my family comfortable and happy.  The nurses even ordered my mom lunch because she stayed with me in my room as I recovered.  Of course I wanted no part of food, but they thought of her.  They are a private hospital and all they take care of are Bariatric patience and spinal/bone surgery patients so the nurses know what to do to help you after surgery  like for thr neausea, throwing up burping and all the rest that goes along with it.  They even called my doc for me so I could stay another night.  I recommend this hospital because the nurses are FANTASTIC!
