3 Year Surgiversary

I was going to take some professional portraits to mark the 3 year surgiversary, but then I was so disappointed in my 20 lb gain from not being able to control the carbmonster that I put the lights away and gave up.

Where is all the glow and glee from three years ago?

I am still considered 'trim' and I can still stuff myself into those pants from two years ago, but they are uncomfortable and look like I am trying too hard.

I know what I need to do. I need to eat better (we have a fruit / pasta based diet here). the daily fight with hypoglyemia is taking a seriously toll on me, my body, and my patence. I know I need to ride my bike, (it has been triple digits and a drought for months) so I can make excuses all day long.

The surigery is a success but I do not feel like one at all.

KAT !!!  I agree with Gina 110% !!!!  You are a success in every aspect of the word !!!!   Look where you came from ????    Girl you have done great.   My surgeon said almost everyone gains back a little weight.   I have recently gained due to stressful situations in my life that I had NO control over.    BUT I did have control over my eating and still made bad choices.    We know how to work our tool and it is NOT broke.    YOu go girl and I will do it with you !!!  We are all WINNERS and LOOSERS of our major excess weight.    Now....go to a thrift store and buy some pants that fit.   Then donate them back when  you get back into the others ,   You can do it and I can TOO !!!!

you are correct in the stress. it started in october of 2008 when my son in law enlisted in the marines and he is in Iraq right now and has been since my grand son had his 2nd birthday in February. It just kills me with worry. my daughter is a strong girl, but she broke down 4 months into his deployment and so I flew her and grandson home from California to Texas.  His other grandma lives 2 miles away so we tag team watching the little one, and momma is working full time to keep her occupied and to give their family some relief during these rough economic times.

that also has me in a dither.  my husband has a job, but he has been with them 16 years. they are cutting from the top tier now, four in his group that have been with teh company 20 years were 'forced to retire' and that just stinks. and it is stressful. I watch every penny. cut back in every place, accept in groceries, for some reason that has increased. ;)

all in all, my tummy is a mess, the worse it gets, the more I rely on mints and then I do not mind nibbling those cookies  I am baking for the troops, must have an official taster.  okay, I am a mess and I know it. ;)

My surgeon retired, came back, and retired again. it is such hard situation. but seriously, I KNOW what he would say, if I made an appointment.

"I said lean meats and leafy green vegetables, I can not make it any simpler than that." and "I told you three meals a day, and if you follow the first step, that is all you would need anyways". now go out, take your vitamins, exersize, and drink more fluids".

okay. so basically I am the same person I was 3 years ago, with the same whiny attitude. grrr at my self.

Kat....we could write a book together !!!  LOL   My weight gain happened in Oct. 08 also with the dealth of my BIL who was married to my sister for over 40 yrs.   UGH....then with the new year came at least 6 deaths of people close to me.    Then house flooded and hubby has been on strike for 6 weeks ( under my feet I might add ) and is returning to work monday  THANK GOD !!!!   As you can see....mine has not been stress free either.    But I am getting back on track on monday !!!  And yes....it WILL happen !!!!    I have to get my weight off and midsection down so I can button my pants.  LOL     We can do it together.!!!!   If you surgeon has retired....you need to find another one to take your blood and do vitamin checks.    We all have a whiney additude at times.....so don't be so hard on yourself.   Life is full of stress and we can all do better if we don't let it get to us.    Trust me....I am TALKING TO ME !!!!  LOL   Anyway glad to meet you !!!!   I am here if you need me.

My goal:
30 minutes of movement each day.
Sunday: rollerskating
Monday: bike hike with kids

add in a 24 oz homemade slush each day with 1-2 servings of fruit but no added sugar.

5 small meals a day. blood sugar demands it for now.  and GET MORE SLEEP

the youngest of the clan keeps finding me in the middle of the night and I need 8 hours uninterupted.

WOW.....I think my body would go into shock if it got 8 hours sleep a night.   I average about 5 to 6.  LOL   Although I know as WLS patients we should have 8.   I can't seem to sleep that long.    I don't sleep well at all.   Really light sleeper and my body aches sometimes from lack of padding.   LOL   That is OK though.   Better unpadded than padded....unless you are talking about bras.   LOL   Sounds like you will do well....you have a plan.    Those little ones do seem to locate you in the wee hours.    My little one is NOW 18 almost 19 yrs old and starting college in less than a month.    So that hasn't happened in my house in a long time.   I just have to worry about him coming in at a decent hour at night ( thus is a reason also for lack of sleep ).   Good luck to you !!!

I have been getting three hours, and then rummaging around, an then three hours.  my youngest is 8 but my grandson is 2 and when he wakes up, he wants the world up. sometimes that is 3 am for a drink, sometimes that is 6 am for a run on the toy box. my oldest are twins and they will be 24 this fall. it went by fast.

You aren't kidding it goes by quickly.   You look so young to be a grandmother.   LOL   I am 56 and no grandbabies.....actually none of my sons are married at this time either.    I do remember the days of kids crawling into my bed and snuggling to me....good ole days !!!  LOL  My oldest is 28....then I have a 23 yr old and then my 18 yr old.   I have a grand dog and 3 grand cats.   LOL  Not quite the same as a little one though.   Well I am going to go to bed shortly.   Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight.
