Trying to deal with a craving!!!! HELP!!!

Get this... we had nutrition day at work yesterday and they provided healthy snacks to us! They included some granola bars, veggies with dip, soy chips, fruit, popcorn, and some whole grain tostidos with all natural hot sauce...

Now I am craving a chip with some hot sauce. If the chips are whole grain, and the salsa all natural, would it be ok to have a couple of chips? I am really wanting something crunchy these days because I have been baking and steaming everything and haven't had a good crunch in awhile!!!!! I used to love the 100 calorie packs, not any of the cookies, but the salty ones... would those be ok for a crunchy healthy snack?? Any other ideas to share with me??

Stacey.....you are still so "newly post op"   I really don't think I would eat chips and hot sauce yet.   But you could try some FF Ranch dressing and some carrot sticks.   That is what I did early out when I wanted something crunchy.   I still do that as a matter of fact.

YUM!!! Def. going to try... I haven't at any raw veggies and am kinda nervous, but I think I can try to go ahead and try. Funny thing is, after I posted this, I realized I'm not even hungry! I actually full from drinking all this water and crystal light all the time... so I will wait until dinner time to have some carrots!! :)

Thanks viv!!!

Stacey,
I have NO idea what Dr. B's protocol on this is.. BUT i do agree with Viv on the no hot sauce and chips just yet. However, i dont agree with the raw carrots this early out. Only telling you as i was told to avoid raw carrots and celery for the first several months as they both can get stuck if not chewed really well.
Just my opinion.. please check with Dr. B or one of his post ops.
wishing you the best.. this stage will be a memory before you know it!

Opppsss  Liz....I was NOT thinking about the carrots getting stuck.  UGH sorry Stacey on that.   I was just thinking about crunchy.   LOL  Being almost 4 yrs post op you seem to forget when you ate what.   I would just stick to really soft things right now.   As I remember now.....I was probably 6 months post op when I did carrots and FF Ranch.    But hey.....Look what you can look forward to enjoying in the future,   Thanks Liz....I am a little brain dead at times !!!!

NP viv, trust me, i hardly remember what i ate (or didnt eat in my case lol) back then either. I only know carrots and celery were a HUGE no no for us.. But i have no clue on what other surgeons think.. so just thought i would throw it out there :)

I don't think it is necissarily bad, but I wouldn't eat rice cakes for a while.  When you do get up to eating rice cakes, I would say that you need to put some kind of protien on them like cheese or peanut butter.  Rice cakes are kind of a waste of stomach space.  I suppose they have fiber in them, so that is probably a good thing, but I usually don't have much room for foods that don't have alot of nutritional value.  This is a different way of thinking than before surgery.  Before, I wanted the most food for the least calories.  Now, I eat protien, and what room is left is for complex carbs and dairy.  I think I've seen soy cakes.  They probably taste alot like rice cakes, and I would expect them to have some protien.  For crunchy grain-based carbs, I like Kashi crackers with cheese.

Soy crisps are the best thing when you are craving crunch!
