Good evening.  Beautiful day today.  73 degrees as I drove into work.  Overcast.  But still nice.

Big Brother tonight, but does not look like there will be any surprises.  The only thing to anticipate is who will win HOH.

Oleta's mom is not doing too good.  They are releasing her from the hospital within the next two weeks to hospice.  Her immune system is completely shot.  Antibiotics work, but they only work for so long.  When she is released, she will be moving in with Brad and Oleta.

Prayer requests are listed below.

Also, please feel free to just visit here.  Tell us about how your day went.  Your successes.  Your failures.  Your fun.  Whatever.  When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT:

Anne and her spouse
Avis
Jennifer - (Cruise Director Julie) - still interviewing

Jen Ewald - hoping for a traveling position to open up shortly
Jeri
Vicki V.

Those who are not yet unemployed, but layoffs are looming

Dana - requests prayer for her sister, Renee.  She had tumor on her jaw removed.  Now needs jaw reconstruction on 7/24 - (10 hour surgery scheduled).

George - Oleta's mother may be coming home soon, but now we here it is for hospice care.

Janet (1divaatheart) - her husband (Jim) will have a stint put into his "good kidney" to protect it on Tuesday, July 21.  His surgery will be on Friday, July 24, hopefully laproscopically.

Jenn Ewald asks prayers that her financial situation improves so she does not lose her house.

Just_Me has requested prayer for Gina A who lost her step mother suddenly.  In addition, her grandmother is in a nursing home and not doing well.

Karen (Misty750342002) - A friend of Karen's from work (who is like a son to her), Dustin Murphy, is 24 years old and has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease.  He has completed chemo and is starting radiation treatment.

Lalocaweta asks for prayers for her spouse as he seeks employment elsewhere since his company appears to be closing it's doors.  Also she is seeking part time employment.

Lindaybarnett  requests prayer for her 87 year old mother.  She is in ICU.  Fluid in her lungs and around her heart and  heart enzymes are too high.  She is in Atlanta.

Meggie - friend Nancy is in assisted living home and is on her last days.  Pray for Meggie's family also as they try to fight through this.

Robin S. requests prayer for her son Tyler who is on his liquid diet, with WLS scheduled for 8/4.

Vanessa (ButterflyReborn) asks for prayers for her family.

Vicki V.  - husband Patrick has Ataxia and Neuropathy of the left side.  Which basically means he has virtually no feeling in his left leg and foot. Experiencing fatigue.

Below are two of God's children that definitely need our prayers.  These are two specific cases, we know there are others out there.  Remember them too.

Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2. She has improved, but still needs our prayers.  Pray for this brave little girl.

Vanessa - We have all followed the story of Elizabeth.  Here is her Caringbridge page:

Hi George;

Sorry to read about Oleta's mom. That's going to be hard on Brad, Oleta and their children. They'll be in my prayers.

I'm in Providence Village tonight. I've got an interview in Irving in the morning so I drove up this afternoon. I haven't been sleeping well this week. I went to my PCP today for my annual physical and he loaded me up with all sorts of meds to take some of my edge off and help me sleep. I'm not going to start taking them until the weekend as I can't chance a new med when I've got an early interview tomorrow.

Not much else is going on. Applied for some jobs, drove up here, spent lots of good times hanging out with my cousin and his wife. Need to get some sleep before needing to be on my game in the morning.

Have a good night. Prayers for all who need them.
Blessings, Jennifer

Best of luck in the morning.

The hardest part about Oleta's mom will be when she does pass away, knowing she did so in their house.  I hope it does not traumatize the kiddos.

I can't imagine. I'm very squeemish when it comes to death. I know it's kind of silly for someone my age, but it's just how I am. I'm sure at some point, I'll lose someone so close to me that I'll get past it, but for now,, err, no. Just one of the reasons I have such respect for Gina dealing with it daily.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm not even close to tired and I have to take an antibiotic in 1:15 so I'm not going to get much sleep anyway... Hopefully, I can "fake it 'til I make it" like I used to when I had my old job and never slept.
Blessings, Jennifer

Would you believe I never went to a funeral until I was 51 years old (when my father-in-law died).  And here Eddie is (my 11 year old grandson) and he has already been to I think eight of them at last count.  But when he was born, 7 of his 8 greatgrandparents were alive.

That is pretty amazing. I have no idea how many I've been to, but my Greek family lived up to the reputation of being a big family until this generation, so there were lots of extended family (great aunts and uncles, second cousins, etc.) funerals growing up. I can still smell the incense at a Greek Orthodox funeral when I think about it. ~shiver~

It's kind of funny because my cousin Rick was commenting tonight on how I'm his only "true" cousin. In my mom's immediate family there were three kids. My mom only had me, Rick's mom had three kids and my uncle doesn't have any biological children. Then, there are three 1/2 siblings and two of the three of them have children, but they're separated by distance and the cir****tance of being my grandfather's second family, so we don't really know them as well as Rick, his sisters and myself know each other. The four of us grew up together so we've got a special closeness.

Have I mentioned how much I cannot wait to get moved up here? Because, really, I can't. We'll be up next weekend because it's Rick's birthday (all four of the cousins were born between 7/6 and 8/6 so we used to have one huge birthday party as kids) and he told me tonight that Michael and I must be here to make his celebration complete. I really look forward to being near him and Nicole.
Blessings, Jennifer
