OK, I don't like to get into Politics, but I am so MAD, I could just SIPT!!!
Our definitions of 'taking part' must be vastly different. To me, posting nothing but a link to your person blog is not taking part. After spending these past 8 months reading OH, several times a day, I've learned who to listen to, who not to listen to, and who to pass over entirely by what they've posted here on a daily/weekly or even occasional basis. It's how we get to know people, how we learn to trust their opinions...or not.
Please....I'm not picking on Ginger, as my Grandmother would say I'm sure she's a lovely person, this opinion of mine is aimed at her as well as anyone else who only pops on here to post links to their blog.
No apologies necessary! We'll just disagree as to what taking part really means.
Ok, let me try to explain this better. There are members that are here and take part on the TMB because at some point I dropped by and shared a blog post on boards that I'm not on every day. They liked the information and "switched" to the TMB forever. For instance when someone has a great breakthrough idea and I get kind of high on the information I want to blog about it and share it with others in hopes of helping others. I have felt like it is less offensive to just post a link and see if anyone relates than to write this long post as a newbie. It also might be my way of wanting to start to take part in a board and see how I'm welcomed. I spoke with Ginger for a very long time on the phone one day and we learned so much from each other because we both had some information that we had from outside sources and that's how we grow. If you choose not to read her blog that's great but it just seems to me that we can learn from everyone and if you're not wanting to read it that's great too. Ginger gives countless hours to others volunteering and working in the bariatric field and she wasn't asking for money, she was just starting a conversation about something that she felt was unkind to someone over their weight. I just don't understand why we can't welcome everyone and sometimes lurkers don't post for months. Again, if you don't want to read it, that's fine but it might have been someone that was invited. It's hard being new somewhere and you don't always know how best to try to take part. I feel so badly about where this all went because I guess there's no good solution.

You mentioned earlier about how easy it is to post a link to a blog instead of retyping it all. The keystroked needed to cut and paste an article in a post is about the same as it take to post a link.
Let's just agree to disagree about this, OK? Maybe we'll meet in Dallas ....
hugs, Y

I didn't mean to scare you, (LOL). But when I heard about it on the radio this morning, it just made me so mad. I know there are so many people who are discrimated against for being overweight I was one of them (and I don't think she really is...she is just an average size women). It really breaks my heart sometime.
I hope you are having a great week! Wish you were coming to ATL for our OH conference in November.
Call me when you get a chance.
Hugs,
Ginger
