New to the Texas board
I am new to this board have looked thru a few others. I have RNY July 9th i go in for my 2 weeks check on Weds and pray for the puree stage i am so so tired of the liquids still struggling with well everything honestly. Can't seem to find a vit i can tolerate and cannot wait to be able to swallow tham again. Struggling to get in all my protien everyday that 88g is kicking my butt. And water also. The liquid diet is killin me lol even though really i can't hold much anyway. I never feel hungry but then when i do have something i cannot tell when i am full is this normal?? I have lost according to my scale 13lbs and wishing it was more but realize also it is a lot for a weekish. I was 329 day of consult morn of surgery 318 today 305. So anyway looking for others advise and stories. I live in the El Paso area so anyway hello all.
I'm not looking forward to doing the liquid thing again, but I sure am looking forward to a continued weight loss. I started at 484 in 2002 and lost down to 240 by 2004. Over the last 5 yrs, I've managed to gain 35-40 lbs, so this time (after my revision next month) I'll take full advantage of my "honeymoon" period, attend support group meetings and avoid bad habits even more. I've been overweight since I was 8, and what I weigh now is what I weighed in the 6th grade (275)....So while I'm thrilled to be this weight, the best part is yet to come.
So hang in there, the results are amazing!
Hi,
I take the Bariatric Advantage supplements and they taste great. I don't know how your dr. does things, but, I was told I would have to do chewable vitamins for the rest of my life to prevent a blockage. I also have to cut my pills in small pieces so they don't get hung up, per drs. orders.
Make sure you don't take any Ibuprofen or asprin either. They can cause problems with your new pouch. I had my surgery June 9th, and my dr. put me on full regular diet except for beef. I have not vomited though and have been progressing nicely. I was only on full liquids for 6 days and then switched to cream soups and puree for 1 week, then soft foods and tuna salad week 3. At week 4 is when my dr. allowed me to go to regular diet since everything was looking good. I just make sure not to push my limits too far yet.
Hopefully your surgeon will allow you to advance soon.
Welcome to the TMB. Come back and post often.

Welcome to the OH TX board...congrats on your surgery. Sounds like you're doing well on your wt. loss so far. I sure understand the being tired of liquids only. Take it easy when you start eating food. You can fill your tiny pouch quickly. Follow your dr's orders and you'll be really successful. Welcome to the loser's bench!

As far as chewable for life my dr didn't say that to us we were told at around 8-10 weeks we could start pills if we choose to as long as we were not taking tons at one time in fact my pain meds were pills not liquid like most and i have done fine and they are a good size too. Working on the protien found 200 plus recipes on the net one taste like a frapuccino or iced coffee i can do that lol. And one that taste like chocolate pudding. Maybe those will help some. Last night my liquids were awsome i cooked chicken n dumplins for my fam i took some of the liquid from it with a very small touch of mashed potatoes and it made it soup it was good lol. Anyway have a nice day.
Hey Steph, welcome from another Steph. I've used Walmart's version of Flintstone vitamins for the past 2 years. I take 2 each morning and love the taste. I was able to move off liquids after one week but one of the things I loved was either tomato or potato soup made with milk. Neither one bothered my pouch. I know you're suposed to be careful of the acid in tomato but since I only sipped an oz or two at a time, it was fine. You will be below 300 lbs in a day or two...Welcome to Twoterville!! You'll never see those "3's" again, yeah for you!!
Another hint is you can make SF/FF pudding and put a scoop of protein powder in it. I loved the banana with vanilla protein powder or chocolate pudding with chocolate powder.
