Did any of you start tanning after WLS? I am so pale, and in all my pics that is what I hate the most.... A few friends of mine had suggested that I start tanning like at a tanning bed place. Do any of you do that? How do you pick a place? I haven't the foggiest about what I should do or how to go about finding a place the is reputable? Anyone know a good one in SW Houston/Sugarland area?

If you are that pale, please consider a "fake" tan---I have had several skin cancers removed becaise of tanning when I was younger. Please consult your doctor. Most will advise against tanning, whether natural or tanning beds.

I tan 1 month a year to get some color.  This year I didn't and I still need to.  To me when I was fat I thought tanned fat looked better tan pale fat.  Now it's I think tanned loose skin looks better than pale loose skin.  I didn't have any issues.  For me in the past the concern was all the meds I was taking interfering with tanning now I take nothing but vitamins.  I personally had no trouble but ask your doctor.

I don't do tanning beds anymore but I have done airbrushed tans.  I've used a girl several times that works in the Woodlands.  I think it's $20 and lasts 7-10 days.

Find a place where you can spray tan unlimited times per month for like $20-30.....

Mystic Tans.. to me.. are the best.. start off as a light or medium.. never get sprayed dark/orange...

I love the real deal.  I'm a teacher so I have my summer off.  My girls and I spend 2-3 hours at the pool everyday (it's the only place they don't fight and they can't make a mess).  Even with spf of 70, I'm starting to get wayyyyyyyy too dark.  But I love a good tan!!  : )

I used Darque Tan over off of 6 and Lexington (I think) to get my base...going to the beach and pool have done the rest. I do cover my scars; you shouldn't tan your scars the first year. There is no contract so you can cancel anytime. It's about 27 a month unlimited and this includes the spray on.
Haven't heard from you in a while...you doing okay?

Girl you know I did!  I started about two months ago or so.  I don't usually have problems with it but I'm darker skinned than you are.  If you don't tan well in the sun then the beds won't do you much good.  A mystic tan might be the best way to go (spray on tan) but I agree with the first response....you probably want to talk to your doctor before jumping into an actual tanning bed.  Those folks that work in tanning salons should tell you not to use a bed if you are prone to burning and there should be signs all around  saying the same thing.  My 16yr old is about as fair as you are and she burns easily....she only gets spray on tans and wears tons of sunblock when she's out.

You are looking great mama!

BTW, I use Darque Tan. I hear their Mystic Tan is alot better than some other places but that's just what I hear.

Planet Tan is reputable and if you do this, just go slow...a little at a time and you'll get tan.  There's a newer one than Mistic Tan that's called Versaspa and you can choose medium, dark or darker and it does not make you orange.  It looks awesome.  If you use self tanner, it works too.  Just remember to wash the palms of your hands and completely dry before putting clothes on.  Again, if you do the tanning bed, just start slow and see how you do.  It will take a bit to darken up but you will.  Just avoid it on your face and don't burn.  It will make your face old before your time.  Wear makeup on your face  to match your body and if you wear makeup with sunscreen, just wear it in the tanning booth.  I'm very well versed on this stuff!
