Hey Jess! Glad to see you back on the board. Here is what I understand as good vs bad carbs. Good carbs = complex carbs = whole grains (whole wheat pasta - Ronzoni is good), vegetables, fruits. Bad carbs = simple carbs = white carbs (white breads, white rice, processed carby foods -aka, donuts, bagels etc).
As far as soups, etc go, what I learned from Danni is add pretty much anything to them to make them yummy. Get a bag of frozen veggies and toss them in with the soupy chicken stuff. Tomatoes, squash, cauliflower, broccoli, etc all good additions to meals.
Easy snack things that I do are: Cheese sticks, lunch meats rolled up with cheese, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, beef jerky, apples with peanut butter. If I'm really in a mood for something with carbs I'll get a Western bagel from Walmart (110 cal, 0.5 fat, 25 carb, 8 fiber, 7 protien) and toast it with peanut butter.
Easy meals for us have been: Crockpot meat (chicken, pork or beef) with cream soups served over mashed cauliflower; meatballs with sauce mushrooms and olives (without pasta); oven baked breaded chicken; bags of soup from the store with added meat and veggies.
If you have a Sam's card, they have awesome salmon burgers and turkey tenderloin mignon. If you'd like to go to Sams and don't have a card give me a shout and we can meet up there sometime.
Hugs, let me know when you'd like to get together again. I'm doing VBS the week of 7/27, but would love to get together to help you out if you'd like.

Thanks Debbi.
This is all so helpful!!!
I'm going to try and be good tomorrow...take it one day at a time. :-)
I bought some cottage cheese. I got some more meat and cheese.
I think one of my biggest problems right now is the new job and the urge to eat all the time just because. Not necessarily because I'm hungry but because it's available and a time filler.
Candy tastes so good, donuts are delicious.
All these foods I couldn't eat pre-surgery and now it feels like I'm making up for it. Which is not a good perspective.
I do have a membership to Sams...I guess a lot of it is just having someone there saying, "nah, you don't want that". ha ha ha
I guess a lot of my motivation seems to be gone now that James (hubby) seems anti-kids and doesn't want to expand. It's killing me :-(
I've been taking sleeping pills and going to bed by 9:30 every night because I feel like I've got nothing to look forward to every day.
Don't get me wrong, Jimi (my kiddo) is amazing and I live for him. BUt I would give anything to add on.
Ugh...such is life right?
Hugs Debbi.
What are you up to this week? I'm committed on Tuesday and Thursday for kung fu...but free Monday and Wednesday. Friday my sister is coming in town and we are going to a concert.
That's going to make for a hard weekend too. The way I see it, I work my bum off all week and the weekends I relax a little bit.
Okay, sorry for the novel.
Hugs!!!

Ok Mon you have plans... It's support group in Allen. Bring Jimi and a notebook and we'll pick everyone's brain for meal and snack ideas. You need it, so no excuses!!
If you want we could do a Sam's trip on Wed after work. Not necessarily to buy anything but to get ideas of what to buy when it's grocery time. You've got my number so USE IT!!! You can and will succeed at this, but you need to remember to lean on your friends who know what it's like and can help.
As to the family thing, girl all I've got are huge hugs and lots of prayers for you. I pray that James changes his mind, and I pray that until that time you can cope with the emotions of it in ways that don't end up hurting you.
Hugs back at ya!
