OT-July BBQ "Flood" damages
Since I've had several people ask...The contractor State Farm sent out just left. Here's what he's recommending to the insurance company. Upstairs bathroom: new subflooring and replace vinyl tile. Downstairs Utility room: paint/repair ceiling, replace vinyl flooring. Hall: replace laminate flooring and paint walls. Downstairs bathroom: replace vinyl flooring. Unfortunately we have old fashioned vinyl flooring everywhere and they will only pay to replace it at their cost for the product and labor. If it didn't cost so much for the labor, I'd love to upgrade it to ceramic tile. He will submit on Monday and we'll see what they say. The downstairs bathroom actually got no damage but he said since the vinyl was stained he'd submit it and see if they approved it.

How do the prices compare and the labor prices? I want ceramic tile in my kitchen and dining room(we have laminate in the kitchen and carpet in the dining room now). I like the thought of the "tile-like" stuff, especially if it's comparable and cheaper. If it would withstand my dog having peeing accidents on it better than the laminate has...curled up and bloated in the seams...nasty. She's way better than she used to be but still has the accidents occasionally and we catch them and clean them as quick as we can.
