OT: The little things...
Nah, actually, the reason we went to this jeweler was not only because mom and had have used them before, but earlier in the year, my mom won a $500 gift certificate to this place from the local radio station. It was a contest they had been doing and since mom doesn't "do" the computer, I had been entering her stuff on the computer for her. When she won the $500 gift card, she insisted I would get half the money. I told her she was nuts but she insisted. So, when we went in there, I turned in my rings, but then had a pair of earrings made in my birthstone. Mom used her half to apply towards dad's ring. I couldn't really ask for a discount when I only ended up having to pay the difference of like $35! I really wanted her to keep the full amount herself but she wouldn't have any of that. Figures....that's mom for you though!
Congratulations Jill.....I had about the same problems as you. My hands also got too large for my original wedding rings. SO I ended up giving my original engagement ring to my son for my EX DIL. When they divorced last summer I emailed her and asked for my engagement ring back ( she never wore it anyway...said it didn't match her wedding band ).....but I know she didn't like it. She had my original diamond taken out and a much larger one replacing it....she had that one taken out and returned the ring to me. I am Thankful for that....anyway it is also too big for me...it wasn't resized though. I need to get the stone put back in. Makes ya feel good.

Yeah.....Jill....I know how VERY lucky that I am that she returned the ring, My son got very angry at me for asking for it back. His attorney told him to forget the ring. Easy for him to say that...it wasn't his and meant nothing to him. But to me.....I loved that ring even though my original diamond is a 1/4 karot. It isn't the size of the stone that mattered to me anyway...it was the thought that he bought it on his own. I have them both in a safe place now.
