OT: The little things...
Ok Gina, I'll post it, only because you told me to!
I posted this on George's Nigh****chman post last night but Ms. Gina said I needed to post it. You know, the further out from surgery we get (I'll be five years post-op in September), we don't really seem to come across that many "WOW's" anymore, but I did have one this past week.
When I was nearly 300 pounds, I couldn't wear my wedding rings nor my engagement ring so just put them away. I actually went out and bought myself a cheap gold band (in a size 10!!!) just so I'd have a ring on my finger as I didn't like walking around without something there! When I started to lose my weight, I eventually was able to wear them again but then had the opposite problem, the rings fell off. Obviously I didn't want to lose them so again, back in the box they went. I never had them resized because I really didn't want my rings cut so put it off. Before I left to come up here to Illinois (6 wk. vacation) my mom called this jeweler here in town to see if they could resize them. They told her they resize without cutting so I brought them up here with me. Well, I'm happy to say that yesterday I picked both my rings back up, resized to a 6 1/2, and they are BACK on my finger where they belong and with NO cuts! The original engraving is all still there unscathed as well. I was so excited to get them back on. Kinda silly, I know! Hubby and I had our 17th anniversary in April and that was one thing he told me to do was to get them resized so he was happy too!

Hmm, I'll have to work on that one! Not sure how to get a pic in a post. I will tell you though, they are VERY "plain Jane" type rings. A simple gold band and a small solitaire, only like 1/3rd of a carat, but at the time, that's what the funds could pay for so I love them!
Get this...my dad needed a new wedding band as his finger has gotten bigger and his old ring was literally cutting into his finger so the dermotologist told him he really needed a bigger band, and to get the comfort fit ones as they are buffed on the edges and don't "cut" into the finger. So mom looked at the rings and poor dad was dragged into the store to look too. Dad found one he liked, but then told the guy, "ok, now, if you order me one, you'll have to order her one because they have to match. We've had our "old" ones for 48 years and I'm not about to have a ring that doesn't match hers"....so, both of them are getting new ones too!

Hey Steph...
Mine are now snug, which for summer is fine. Not too snug, but it takes a bit of wiggling to get them off. They can move ok from the back of the finger to the knuckle but are harder to get over the knuckle which is exactly what you want so they don't easily slide off! By winter, they will probably be a tad bit loose. Mom and dad's new rings are simple, but classy!
Hope you get your house back in order from the "waterfall" you had in the house. That stinks! State Farm did right by us for hurricane damage so hopefully you'll have the same kind of outcome and your claim will be handled well and expeditiously! Where I'm at up here in Illinois is where State Farm's headquarters are at! I drive by the main huuuuuge office every day when I take the girls to tennis.
Hugs!!
