Never thought about benedryl...  However, I've been taking 1 Tylenol PM for years at night...  If I can't shut my brain down (from stress), I won't fall asleep.  Once there, I'm usually fine.  Also, the older I get, the more my joints ache and the Tylenol helps with that too...  Good luck!

Good luck Darlin'  I took all of those and then some for the past 6 years; I now have to take Lunesta each night (well not as much maybe every other night) couple of things to think about when talking to your doctor about sleep issues; cause most doctors will not give sleep aide right off the bat.....
My doctor asked the following questions;
am I depressed~I have a history of depression; so she put me on Welburtin; I felt great...just could not sleep...
B-12-My b-12 was very low, so we started shots and sublingual; my b-12 is slowing going up; but sleep was still a problem
Thyroid~Your thyroid can throw your sleep patterns off~of course I have major thyroid issues; I will say that since lowering my dose..300mcg to 50mcg I have slept better, note that is why I only take lunesta when I really need it, about 3 times aweek...
Sleep is something we all need; getting into a sleep habit will help, DO NOT turn on tv or read once you wake from sleep; this just wakes your brain up again...
I wish you all the luck; b/c sleeping problems SUCK...no other way to put it...if benedryl works right now go for it, get your sleep; just consider other options as to why you might not be sleeping....

did not mean to write a book, lol  sorry about that
