sleep aids FYI

I went to my PCP the other day and asked her to recommend something to help me sleep since I haven't been getting but about 4 to 5 hours sleep per night.  She said, take Benedryl.  She said if you look at Tylenlol PM, Exedrin PM, and other sleep aids, the main ingredient to help you sleep is Benedryl.  So, I have Benedryl already, so that night I took 2 and slept like a baby.  I did the same thing last night, and had sweet dreams.
I know alot of you probably take Tylenol PM, so this may be a cheaper and safer alternative.
Have a great day,
DeborahL.

just wondering if you've thought about seeing someone for that sleep problem? 4-5 hours isn't much at all, and a lot of insurances will cover a visit to a sleep center with a PCP referral. also, darkness and quiet are invaluable, but that's more of a duh. good luck with the zzz's, that has to be rough
As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!

I have been to a sleep center before my surgery.  I have very mild apnea.  But, before my surgery I was taking antidepressants at night to help with the sleeping.  My dr. has taken me off of those since they were hard on my stomach.  I have my room very dark and I sleep with a fan to drowned out any outside noise.
I am just finding it hard to go to sleep since my surgery.  Don't know why.  I just don't get tired until late, late, late.  If I go to bed early, I just lay there and toss and turn half the night and finally get up so I don't wake my partner up.

I guess I will take the Benedryl for now.

Thanks,
DeborahL.

For now it is working.  Probably not for long, but I will take what I can get when I get it...

I can take ONE Benadryl and it sends me into a coma for hours.  I never have trouble sleeping, but if I did, it would be my sleep aid of choice.

I wonder if the sleep issues are related to the amt of B-12 we all take?  Just a thought.

wondered that myself.  FOR ME (which we all know do NOT measure me as 'normal' on any day!) i tried no B-12 for a bit to see if it would help. nope, not a difference, so i hopped back on the b-12. Before i get yelled at, it was under doc's supervision as  yall know im diligent about the vits!!!!!!!!!!! my mom even gets the lecture about the vits lol

It's pretty weird that most people's sleep issues start about 2 years out.  Same thing with the blood sugar drops.  What the heck happens to our bodies at the 2 year mark?

i know! i wonder myself. I have always had the insomnia.. so thats nothing new here. But i have noticed for the rest of the population about the insomnia, blood sugar and the hormonal (sex drive) as well. Interesting isn it?
