Good evening all.  Not much going on.  Just work right now.  Tomorrow night my nephew will be in town for about 7 hours or so, so we will go visit with him.  Then I will go to work.

Going to be babysitting my son's dog.  That was my dog before that.  That was his dog before that.  Long story.  Anyway, we will watch him while my son's family is out of town for a wedding.

Prayer requests are listed below.

Also, please feel free to just visit here.  Tell us about how your day went.  Your successes.  Your failures.  Your fun.  Whatever.  When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

That is just horrible Vivian............... people just don't have any feelings for their co-workers no matter what the situation is at hand - huh?     And they wonder why people don't want to cross that picket line in the first place ?   WOW!
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

Phyllis.....I think all the people involved in the strike have lost their minds !!!  IMHO....everyone is going to walk away loosers....the people strikeing because of the lost wages that they will never get back and all the savings.,...cashing in of stocks and whatever else it is taking to "live life" with the stinking $200 that they are so "generously" giving us each week which I might ad they have only given us 3 checks and this is ending week 5 .   LOL  Joke huh???  Plus the company for not complying to the Unions wishes and them bringing in all the temps to do the work of their trained employees.    Anyway I think everyone is crazy !!!   Besides that at 76 yrs old....the man who ran those 2 strikers down should be retired and not working IMHO !!!

Hi George;

Another exhausting day of interviews. I ended up working on a writing sample until 2am this morning, set the alarm for 6:30 and woke up at 6:16. I hate it that when I have an alarm set, my body never sleeps that late!

I left here at 7:45 for my 9am interview because Google said it would be 1:02 in traffic. I was there in less than 45 minutes, so I hung out in the car and had a chat with one of my former colleagues who was at the airport in San Antonio waiting on a flight to Houston. The interview was OK. If I were desperate for money, I could do the job and probably kick ass at it, but it would burn me out after 6-12 months. Being there reminded me of the movie "Boiler Room". I noticed while meeting with the sales manager (after my interview with the senior recruiter) on the cover sheet of my file that they had put together, the cover sheet had a Hire/Don't Hire option and it was checked "Hire". Ugh! Why do the jobs I don't want want me?

After that, I started heading towards my afternoon interview. I still needed to tweak my writing sample, so I stopped at McDonald's as they usually have free AT&T wifi and I know Michael's login and password. I grabbed some food and a beverage and worked there for 2 hours. I finished my writing sample and then needed to find a Kinko's to print it at. That was a challenge because the freeway access roads are weird over there. I finally got to Kinko's printed my stuff and drove the rest of the way to North Richland Hills. My interview there went well, I met with the president of the company. He wanted one of the women on staff to meet with me but she wasn't available, so we made arrangements for a phone interview later in the afternoon. When she called, I started asking questions about the position I'd initially applied for and she told me upon reviewing my credentials that I have too much experience for the position I came in for and they just want me to start on their team in a more senior position. As usual, it's an intriguing position, but the pay is not on par with my last job. So, I'm yet again wondering why the rest of the world values me so much less than my previous employer did.

I'm really trying to keep from letting it get me down. I know the interview tomorrow pays less than 10% less than my previous job, so I'm hoping it goes well. And I still haven't gotten the brush off email I've been expecting all day from yesterday's interview so maybe it's not as bad as I thought it was.

I'm exhausted. Three interviews today was a lot on very little sleep. I'm waiting for Rick & Nicole to get home and we're headed to the pool. I'll check in throughout the night.

Have a good night George. Prayers for all who need them.
Blessings, Jennifer

I understand what you are saying about the $$$ being less.  Truthfully, you need to expect that for two reasons.  One, the economy right now.  The second reason, and I am sure you know this, most companies will not give you the money you made at your last job, if you are no longer there.  They don't have to lure you away, you are unemployed.

Also, it gives you something to shoot for after your first year.

I know I didn't make nearly the money you did, but in 1992 I left one job for another making about 15% less.  But I saw a potential, whereas I was stalled at the job I was at.  I was right, within one year was making 15% more that the previous job.  Then I left there for another cut of 15% or so.  Worked at that company for 5 years and when I left (I was fired because I was making too much money - they actually told me that), I was making almost 200% more than when I started.

I know, but I'm trying to not take more than about a 10% cut. Tomorrow's interview falls within that range as I've already seen the compensation plan.

Jennifer....I live in North Richland Hills !!!  WOW that was in Fort Worth area right ????   LOL  Kinda sounded in the beginning like it was still in the SA area.    Good luck with the jobs.   This area is suspose to be one of the best ones for jobs.   Although not too sure if that is true or not with so many out of work.   I pray that God will lead you and Michael to the right job that he wants you to have and to the area that he wants you to live in.   Maybe with the job with the lower pay....maybe they will discuss the pay with you and reconsider the pay if they want you enough.   Prayers for you.....I can imagine how frustrating this all is for you both.

Yes, that North Richland Hills. I haven't sent out a single resume in San Antonio as we're taking this opportunity to leave.

I believe the right opportunity for me is out there. We just need to find each other. Tomorrow's interview is a promising contender.

Thank you for the prayers. I really do appreciate them.
