Evil Mother
You are so right and so wise to be able to let it slide, wish I could! She did not want me to have the surgery and doesn't let me forget it! Everytime I had to be hospitalised she kept saying my Doc did something wrong and I should go to her doc, etc... Of course to make her happy I let her Dr due my appendectomy against my better judgement! He pierced by bowel and sewed me up weird so my belly and bellybutton are all deformed!! i love him as a person but he is never cutting on me again!! Must have a better attitude !! OK onto positive feelings! LOL!!

It is my dad that is my problem parent in that area. I finally realized that the last time he said something, I was unaffected. I hope you'll get to that point too. You KNOW it's not about you, it's about her....for whatever reason. My cousin had WLS and my dad was saying how great she looked and that she hadn't taken it too far like me. I just kept on talking and didn't even acknowledge that remark. Yes he probably thinks I'm too skinny but it's the delivery that was wrong. He could have said that he's concerned that I took it too far but that's a total different sound. His statement makes him "right" and me "wrong" but I was very proud of myself when I realized that it didn't bother me one single bit. So sweetie, let it go and consider the source and enjoy your beautiful new body.

Hey..... I know I am late to this party but I thought about a good comeback the next time she makes a comment like that. Well, I actually thought of several but since you want to stay on good terms this one isn't a personal attack. LOL
The next time she says if looks like you are gaining weight, just smile and say "Well, I better get my scale fixed then because it shows I have LOST WEIGHT." Then just laugh and say something silly like "I LOVE IT and to think how much I used to hate my scale". Even if you have really gained weight and still hate your scale (like most of us do) - the point is let her know her hurtful comments didn't get to you - even if they did. You rob her of that satisfaction, anyway.
Oh....... my other comeback was "You need to get your eyes checked because I have LOST weight" LOL Return the dig by inferring she is getting old and her eyesight is failing without being toooo mean.
