It is a brand local to that area and I would think in any grocery store! it is white rice in a goldy or yellow box!

and according to their website there's another brand that is the "same" Water Maid Rice.

White and it just doesn't cook the same as the water maid rice! i know picky picky picky!! i ate it growing up cooked almost like a gruel and it is the only rice that cookslike that !

Is it because it is short grain rice? I am from South Louisiana and that is all we ate there, but when I got to dallas, I was a bit miffed because all I could find is long grain rice.

We cook it, addmilk and butter, cook it down again , add milk and butter, cook it down agian!!! OMG it is sooo good!! Probably can't eat it now but lil ol lady, hubby, sis and bil can!! Maybe I can have a bite or two or three!! LOL!!!

We used to have that 'milk rice' for breakfast in the winter instead of oatmeal. And we would add sugar and cinnamon and have 'sweet rice.'. This cajun girl loves it!!! Probably put me in a coma now.

Ooohhhh...never had like that we put pepper on it!! Sylvia the housekeeper who worked for almost 3 generations of our family (over 50 years!!!) made it for us when we were sick!! I started making it for Ken when my sister would send it to me in Baltimore!! you use to buy it anywhere. Last time I bought it I ordered it direct from the company had to buy a huge case and pay a fortune in shipping!!! Sylvia didn't seem that appreciative although she had talked about it all the time!!!

In this market, River Brand is called Water Maid medium grain rice. If you
like, we can order you five lb. bags.
