If I were lying, wouldn't my pants be on fire?!?
Jennifer, you've already gotten more than enough advice, and I've never had a wedding dress. The only reason I'm posting is that your thread struck a nerve with me. Everyone is entitled to my opinion, right?
Anyone who has had to sort through an elderly or deceased relative's house learns that stuff is just STUFF! People keep insane amounts of stuff. It becomes a burden to their loved ones and even to themselves. In the end, 95% of it means nothing to anyone but the owner, and most of that 95% does not have enough resale value to justify the costs of sale.
My point: I admire your ability to part with your dad's baby book. That's a perfect example of pushing past the "shoulds" and getting to what makes sense for you. You did the right thing.
And I'm not completely off the hook on the baby book. I did go through and pilfer some of the photos that were in it before I got rid of the book, but I figured it was much easier to move a few photos than another book.
I'm really trying with this move to get rid of a lot of our unused stuff. I just got back from the second trip to Goodwill in 3 weeks and unloaded an entire car full of stuff on them. And I'm also trying to be better going forward about my buying habits and being more aware of what I actually own. I really let my apparel buying get out of control since I got to goal.
